In the height of World War II, the American Army have devised an experimental training programme, known as the Tuskegee Training Programme, that consists of African American soldiers. Despite their hard work training, they are beginning to lose hope that they will ever fight in the war. Discrimination in the army was so rife, the men were often seen as unable to fight for their country.
With doubts raised by some of the white soldiers who questioned the validity of African Americans in the army. Just when they were about to be shipped back home in 1944, a call comes through asking the Tuskegee Airmen to play the vital role of escorting the bombers in daylight to their targets. A mission so dangerous, many refused, the Tuskegee pilots show no fear and were ready to fight for their country in order to win the War.
Red Tails is based on the true story of the Tuskegwee Training Programme, which consisted of combat pilots during the Second World War who were racially segregated from the rest of the army. The films sees George Lucas picking up an executive producer credit, The story and screen play were written by John Ridley and Aaron McGruder.
