The Flaming Lips have smashed rapper Jay Z's concert record after performing eight gigs in eight different cities in 24 hours.
The quirky rockers kicked off the feat in Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday (27Jun12) and wrapped it up with a show in Louisiana on Thursday (28Jun12).
Walking offstage at the end of the band's record-breaking attempt, frontman Wayne Coyne tells WENN, "To be published alongside the man who ate 22 pounds of his own boogers, beside the woman with the longest toenails or perhaps even to be published beside an individual who has had maybe 1,000 cockroaches stuffed into their ears... that, to me, would be one of life's absurd joys."
Jackson Browne, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Neon Trees, Gary Clark Jr., Karmin and Jackass stuntman Chris Pontius joined the band for the Mississippi Delta-region gigs.
The mini-tour also served as the highlight of this year's (12) O Music Awards, with prizes announced at each tour stop.
Honours went to Selena Gomez (Best Artist with a Camera Phone), Karmin (Best Web-Born Artist), Tokio Hotel (Fan Army Award) and Adam Lambert (Must Follow Artist on Twitter).
