Review of Flo Rida's album R.O.O.T.S

Flo Rida R.O.O.T.S Album

Flo Rida is back with second album R.O.O.T.S that has already sold really well getting a number 1 in the UK album charts. Flo Rida is certainly gaining credibility in the music business having worked with a variety of artists like Lil Wayne and Akon who is featured on this album and also Rida has been nominated for a host of awards such as the Grammy's.

The first single released on this album 'Right Round' achieved worldwide number 1's and was probably responsible for much of the initial selling success of R.O.O.T.S. Indeed using a pop format and catchy hook with hip hop has worked before with the Black Eyed Peas and maybe this blend of hip hop is the way forward for chart success. P Diddy was the originator of this sound but to be fair to Flo Rida this album is more creative than the early forms of commercial hip hop, in fact it is innovative and genuinely musical. There's some heavyweight guest artists like Wyclef Jean, Nelly Furtado. Ne-Yo, Ke$ha, Wynter and Akon and there's some real rags to riches uplifting sentiment, positivity and of course sexual feeling. His rap flow is good and there's soul definitely coming through.

I have to respect Flo Rida for this album for its creativity and musicality. I didn't really like 'Right Round' being a hip hop fan but it is accessible to the masses and R.O.O.T.S can grab a new crossover market. As an album it works in an artistic sense and has a roundness to it so deserves success. Indeed Flo Rida has matured from the days touring with 2Live Crew but hey hip hop is big business these days and if you can adapt you can make it big. It always a bonus to keep some originality and integrity there and you could respect the Flo for that.
