Florence Welch's anxiety manifests itself as national treasure Bill Nighy in the video for Florence + The Machine's latest single - 'Free'. In Florence's latest Autumn De Wilde directed film 'Love Actually' actor Nighy is seen beside her throughout a chaotic day as she struggles with her mental health.
'Free' follows a string of recent singles; 'My Love', 'King' and 'Heaven is Here' — all of which have been accompanied by music videos directed by Autumn de Wilde and choreographed by Ryan Heffington. All four tracks are taken from the fifth album from Florence + The Machine, 'Dance Fever', which is set to be released via Polydor Records on May 13th.
The red dress that Florence is seen wearing, and some of the costumes featured in Florence + The Machine's latest video, was designed by Nick Cave's partner, Suzie Cave for her label, The Vampires Wife.
'Dance Fever', described by Florence as - "a fairytale in 14 songs", is Florence + The Machine's first album in nearly four years, following on from 2018's 'High As Hope'. Florence premiered some of the tracks from her latest album when she and her band played live in some smaller venues ahead of a much bigger tour this winter. Florence + The Machine will do an extensive tour of North America from September onwards before returning to the UK to complete an arena tour with support from various artists including Arlo Parks and Wet Leg.
The video for 'Free' is "Dedicated to the spirit, creativity and perseverance of our brave Ukrainian friends...Filmed in Kyiv on 18th November 2021 with Ukrainian filmmakers and artists, who's radiant freedom can never be extinguished".
