With less than a month to go before they drop their new album Foals get "lost in a sugar rush" on their latest single - '2001'. '2001' follows the lead single - 'Wake Me Up, released in November last year, and the subsequent singles - '2am' and more recently - 'Looking High'.
Foals new full length album, the band's seventh, is the follow up to 2019's sequential releases, 'Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost', parts 1 and 2. The new album, titled ,'LIFE IS YOURS', will be released on June 17th via warner Music UK.
In a recent press statement charismatic frontman Yannis Philippakis said that - "‘2001’ feels like a postcard from the past. We moved to Brighton around that time, we were a young band, and there was the feeling of the first taste of independence. The moment you get those freedoms, you’re surrounded by temptation. The references to beachside candy and Brighton rock are symbols for drugs and hedonism."
Philippakis went on to explain that - "This was written in the depths of the pandemic winter, and there’s an escapist desire to break out from the feeling of being cooped up, both in terms of the pandemic and adolescence."
The up beat, sun soaked new tune was made 'Song Of The Week' by BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show DJ Greg James.
Speaking about the new album earlier in the year Yannis said that - "This is our idea of a going out record. We were thinking about parties, club nights and being drunk on the bus at 2am trying to get home. All of it: the excitement before you go out, meeting up with your friends, the wild abandon. ‘Who’s got the pingers? Where are we going?’ This is all of that youthful excess of going out."
