Foo Fighters follow up last year's late single, 'Shame Shame' with their latest release, 'No Son Of Mine'. Ahead of the Foo Fighters album release on February 5th the band have delivered the second track to be lifted from it.
Fans of the band will be reassured to note that 'No Son Of Mine', taken from the band's imminent album, 'Medicine At Midnight', is a raucous return to form. With their tenth studio album due out in a month there had been concerns expressed in some quarters that Dave and his band had opted for a softer sound on the new record after hearing 'Shame Shame'. On their last single Dave hardly exerted himself at all, showed great restraint and was almost mellow.
On 'No Son Of Mine' Foo Fighters are back to doing the more familiar and more expected. Foo Fighters are re-energised and on point as they go full tilt. The band's latest single is a no holds barred, head banging Rock song that takes no prisoners.
Foo Fighters new song is probably closer to Heavy Metal, and in particular Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden, than they've ever been. The percussive beat is relentless as the shredded guitars vie for centre stage between the power chords and occasional short solos.
It's a riotous return that bodes well for the new album and one that will no doubt lay to rest any doubts that may have been lingering. Dave Grohl gone soft, I don't think so!
