Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz says he is just "happy to be alive" after suffering a mini-stroke on Friday (November 30, 2012) which temporarily debilitated his vision. The former child star turned musician noticed something wasn't quite right while riding his motorcycle in Arizona before his body became numb.
Muniz says he's never tasted "a sip of alcohol" or smoked a cigarette and considered himself a healthy individual, however, he was rushed to hospital after his body stopped functioning properly and his speech became slurred. "Something wasn't right, I know I did not feel right," Muniz told Good Morning America on Wednesday. "I couldn't say words, and I thought I was saying them. And my fiance was looking at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I can't get a deep breath in. I'm still trying to make sense of it, um, but happy that I'm alive." The actor stunned fans with the surprise announcement on Tuesday, tweeting, "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a Mini Stroke, which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!" His long-time girlfriend Elycia Turnbow subsequently Instagrammed a photograph of Muniz looking drained in a hospital bed.
Muniz, now the drummer in the band Kingsfoil, is scheduled to begin his latest tour later this week.
