British pop singer Frankie Sandford has urged fans to sponsor cyclists attempting to raise awareness of cardiomyopathy following the sudden death of a 28-year-old man last month (Apr12).
The Saturdays star is supporting Sarah Hoare and a group of fellow cyclists as they undertake a 200-mile (322 kilometres) ride over three days in July (12), in a bid to raise $31,350 (£20,000).
Showing her support on her Twitter.com page, the singer writes, "Hey guys, please read this real sad story and donate if possible. It's a great cause... www.thekaiserchallenge.com"
Hoare and her fellow fundraisers are undertaking the challenge in memory of her late fiance Alex Kaiser after he failed to wake following a day of downhill mountain biking in South Wales.
It is believed he suffered hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disease which causes the organ to become vulnerable and exposed to potentially fatal rhythms.
