French Montana recently caused controversy amongst fans of his girlfriend Khloe Kardashian after admitting he wanted to "capitalize" on the reality TV star's fame to boost his own career, but apparently their relationship is genuine.

The 29 year-old rapper recently opened up to Access Hollywood about dating the Kardashian sister, and recalled how he became very aware of every career move he chooses to make after going through near-death experience.

"I was so mad about that," he said about his previous comments. "If I'm with somebody, I'm not with them for that reason."

Montana, who was first spotted with Khloe this past April, goes on to talk about the couple's love-hate relationship regarding reality television. When referring to 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians,' he said, "I hate being on camera . Sometimes you're not ready for it and it's too much pressure, but I [also] love it. But I hate how it happened. all the commotion."

However, the South-Bronx raised rap star went on to gush about how he would do anything his new beau. "She supports me with everything I do. When it comes to her career, I don't think about it. If she needs me to do something, I do it," he said.

Montana also spoke about nearly dying after taking a gunshot to the head in 2003 when he was leaving a New York City recording studio. "After you go through something like that, you ain't making no mistakes," he reflected. "You calculate every move you do. I just feel like it was karma. When you do negative stuff in your life, it always comes back to you. I feel like that's what it was."
