Sing The Greys
Album Review
Sigur Ros may have made a very cool noise, but there wasn't much to make you start nodding your head. Frightened Rabbit, on the other hand, take the Sigur Ros depth and mix it with a kind of Arctic Monkeys/ Counting Crows blend - catchy, rocking and infectious. Like The Long Winters, but even more downright up-front melodic and passionate.
Jumping around indie rock genres, but always sounding very 'college' and maybe just a little unfocused, Sing The Greys is a compelling album that digs a little deeper with each listen - a song like Be Less Rude is like a more compulsive Kings of Leon, The Greys a song that you'll not be able to not hum when you wake up in the morning. In the end, Sing The Greys is a great indicator of how much life is left in the garage and guitars format - it is much more than the sum of its parts, built upon the best of hooks, spit and sweat. Great stuff.
