Morrison tells Nerdist.com he can understand what Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is doing with the Amazonian goddess, but her comic book 'father' William Marston would not appreciate her violent side.

Morrison, who is currently working on the book series Wonder Woman: Earth One, says, "That's not what William Marston wanted, that's not what he wanted at all! His original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity.

"You see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in costume, and it's all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston's Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist."

He also fears the new Wonder Woman sends the wrong message to young girls: "Not even girls want to be girls so long as our feminine archetype lacks force, strength, and power. Not wanting to be girls, they don't want to be tender, submissive, peace-loving as good women are. Women's strong qualities have become despised because of their weakness. The obvious remedy is to create a feminine character with all the strength of Superman plus all the allure of a good and beautiful woman."
