'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 To Be Delayed For Winter Filming

Game Of Thrones

Thank goodness the season 6 finale of 'Game Of Thrones' didn't leave us with too many loose ends, because now it looks like we'll have to wait longer than usual for the next season to arrive on our screens. And you can blame it all on the weather.

'Game Of Thrones' S6 E10The winter is coming for 'Game Of Thrones' season 7

Season 7 has to begin from where season 6 of 'Game Of Thrones' left off, which was tenth episode 'The Winds of Winter'. This means that filming needs to take place in such chilly conditions, and that means starting a bit later than usual. It's probably the only time you want the sunny weather to go away, right?

Nobody Looks Their Best In 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 Premiere 'The Red Woman'

Game Of Thrones

It seemed like forever but the first episode of 'Game Of Thrones' season 6 finally arrived yesterday, and Jon Snow didn't suddenly snap his eyes open and rise from his chilly grave. Nope, he's dead. But 'The Red Woman' still presented a lot to take in for a premiere episode.

Of course, the fact that Snow hasn't returned in the very first episode doesn't mean anything; conspiracy theorists certainly haven't given up yet. But let's move away from that for now and look at what else is going on in George RR Martin's wartorn world.

A New Trailer Brings More Clues For 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6

Game Of Thrones Kit Harington Emilia Clarke Peter Dinklage

Waiting for 'Game Of Thrones' season 6 to arrive is emotional turmoil for fans. First they had to go through the grief of Jon Snow's death, then speculation that he's actually still alive (or, at least, coming back to life), then Kit Harington and his co-stars' insistences that he's very much dead, and now this; a string of mysterious moments in a new trailer that could spell that it isn't the end for Snow after all.

Isaac Hempstead Wright and Max von Sydow in Game of ThronesBran Stark is having visions

What new clues have added to the possibility that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) will be returning to life? First off, we see Davos (Liam Cunningham) wielding Snow's sword as he prepares to defend his corpse alongside the Night's Watch against Alliser Thorne (Owen Teale), whose cronies are battering down the door. It's possible that Davos and co. are trying to stop Thorne and his men burning Snow's body (which they might do to ensure he doesn't become a White Walker), but why would they need to do that if he was really dead? Of course, it could be a dignity thing.

If, like us, you're part of the 'Jon Snow isn't really dead' collective, you may finally have your assurances dashed as HBO release the synopsis for the premiere of 'Game Of Thrones' season 6. A title has also been announced for the first episode, but there's nothing to suggest that Snow will be resurrected.

Game Of ThronesIt seems Jon Snow really is dead

Kit Harington couldn't have been more clear when he insisted that his character was dead in recent promotional appearances, but it's still been difficult to believe. Now though, the official synopsis has been unveiled and it seems to confirm every 'Game Of Thrones' fan's worst fear.

Ian McShane is super laidback when it comes to acting. So much so, that he's totally unapologetic about spoilers, as proven by his latest interview. He reacted to 'Game Of Thrones' fans' anger over his recent slip-up with disdain, branding the TV series as 'only t**s and dragons'.

The 'Deadwood' star has managed to offend literally the entirety of one of the world's most avid fandoms. Clearly not a die hard fan of the show himself, McShane opened up about his one-episode stint in 'Game Of Thrones' recently on BBC Breakfast. 'I bring back a much-loved character who everybody thinks is dead', he said, which is hardly as ambiguous as he meant it to be.

George RR Martin Announces A Plotline That Will Appear In His Books, But Not On TV

Game Of Thrones

Author George R.R. Martin has revealed that he’s decided to include a major plot divergence in his new novel ‘The Winds of Winter’ that won’t be able to happen in ‘Game Of Thrones’, because the character in question has already been killed off in the TV adaptation.

In a new interview with IGN, Martin admitted that he’d been pondering whether to include the plot twist for some time. “I have decided to do it,” he revealed. “Will you know it? I don’t know. It is fairly obvious because it is something that involves a couple of characters, one of which is dead on the show, and not dead in the books. So the show can’t do it, unfortunately, because they have killed someone I have not killed.”

Game Of Thrones Kit Harington Isaac Hempstead-Wright Peter Dinklage Emilia Clarke Lena Headey

It's an exciting day for 'Game Of Thrones' fans because HBO have just unveiled some new images from the upcoming season 6 which have already got the cogs in our minds working. They don't really confirm an awful lot about what to expect from the next season, but it certainly teases a few ideas.

Isaac Hempsted-Wright and Max von Sydow in Game Of ThronesBran Stark is back and accompanied by the Three-Eyed Raven

First of all it has to be said that there are no new images of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) since that ambiguous blood-stained face picture, but there are more of his younger brother Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) who we haven't seen for a whole season, not since the Season 4 finale 'The Children'. He looks like his standing up too, contrary to what he was told by the Three-Eyed Raven that he wouldn't be able to walk again and that he'd only be able to fly. He's actually accompanied by the Three-Eyed Raven too, played by new actor Max von Sydow.

Emilia Clarke Game Of Thrones HBO Kit Harington Sophie Turner

Game Of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has promised that the sixth season of the medieval fantasy drama will be bigger and more exciting than ever before, but revealed that filming it “legitimately almost killed” the cast and crew.

The HBO series will be returning at the end of April, with Clarke starring once again as Daenerys ‘Mother of Dragons’ Targaryen, in the next adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s series of epic novels. The plotlines are probably the most closely guarded secret in the entertainment industry at the moment, particularly as the timeline will overtake where Martin has actually gotten to with his books.

'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 Air Date Finally Scheduled

Game Of Thrones

Things just got real for 'Game Of Thrones'. Fans were sent into a frenzy last year with the season 6 poster featuring an ambiguous image of Jon Snow, and then the subsequent teaser trailer saw the return of his little brother Bran, and now we can finally unveil the official air date for the first episode in April.

Kit Harington in Game Of ThronesWhat happened to Jon Snow?

All any 'Game Of Thrones' fan really cares about right now is what's going to happen to Kit Harington's character Jon Snow, so the as yet untitled first episode better deliver. There's almost a certainty in the air that he somehow survives his vicious slaughter at the hands of his callous Watch comrade in the final season 5 show 'Mother's Mercy', but, as Bran put it in the brief trailer last month, we have 'no idea what's going to happen'.

The excitement for 'Game Of Thrones' season 6 is out of control now; not only are we seeing signs of Jon Snow potentially being alive, but now his brother Bran has returned despite us having seen nothing of him for an entire season. What can this mean for the sibling duo? And just what mysterious secrets has Bran learnt from the three-eyed raven?

We thought the appearance of Kit Harington on the promo poster for 'Game Of Thrones' was exciting enough, with it apparently confirming fan suspicions that he survived his betrayal in season 5 which only grew with the actor being spotted on the show's set in Wales, but now that his little brother Bran has returned we don't know where to start with the anticipation.

The death of Jon Snow at the end of season 5 of 'Game Of Thrones' was one of the most heart-breaking events of the fantasy series so far, and has had fans agonising over the situation for months. Viewers can breathe a sigh of relief now though, because it looks like the handsome Night's Watchman is back.

Panic not, 'Game Of Thrones' lovers; Snow is not dead. Not that the real fans ever thought he was gone for good, anyway. But now we have proof. HBO took to Twitter to tease us with what to expect when the first episode of season 6 begins in April 2016, including a photo of Snow with a face full of blood. It's clearly meant to be ambiguous; is he lying on the ground dead with his eyes closed or is he standing with his head to one side, looking down at the ground?

George R R Martin Discussed The Design Differences Between His Vision And 'Game Of Thrones'

George R. R. Martin Game Of Thrones

'Game Of Thrones' has taken the world by storm. With 60 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and 14 wins throughout its four seasons, the HBO fantasy drama has overtaken the popularity of the original books. Yet it still continues to gain fans every day, in part due to the show's viewers being desperate to discover what happens next; once you begin reading the books, however, it becomes clear that 'A Song of Ice and Fire''s world has more history that HBO suggests.

George R.R. Martin at the cast of HBO's Game Of ThronesGeorge R.R. Martin at the cast of HBO's Game Of Thrones

The series' writer, George R R Martin has helpfully compiled much of that history in 'The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones'. In promotion for the guide, Martin visited the New York cultural and community centre at 92nd Street Y, and answered questions about his fantasy world. While announcing that the HBO series is currently filming in Spain, Martin offered that "I think ['Game of Thrones' is] probably the best looking show on television". That said, it isn't what he originally intended the lands of Westeros to look like. He made this point by drawing attention to the iconic Iron Throne, and how his version from the books is uglier and bigger than the version 'Game of Thrones' viewers are familiar with. "It was put together by blacksmiths," he explains, "not by craftsmen and furniture manufacturers."

The stars stepped out onto the red carpet for one of the glitziest ceremonies of awards season: the Creative Primetime Emmys.

Having previously won for NBC's political drama 'The West Wing' as White House press secretary C.J. Cregg, Allison Janney’s award for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her role in Masters of Sex, which also stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, was a particular highlight.

Backstage, Janney highlighted that playing Margeret Scully was certainly challenging at times. "I felt that Margaret Scully challenged me in ways that I've never been challenged before as an actress on so many levels - on an emotional level, on a physical level - and having to do sex scenes was extraordinarily nerve-wracking and stressful for me and something that I didn't think I'd have to do at this age, frankly," she explained.

The Geek TV Shows We're Not Afraid To Love

Adam Brody Game Of Thrones Chris O'Dowd Richard Ayoade Doctor Who Peter Capaldi George Takei Zachary Levi Mary McDonnell Judd Hirsch

Geeks: once the deeply awkward and much-maligned members of society- ridiculed by Jocks and long stereotyped on TV and film as socially inept weaklings with a love of bow ties, thick-rimmed glasses and high-waisted slacks. But oh how things have changed. Ever since Adam Brody’s intensely loveable Seth Cohen appeared on screens in the mid noughties as the lonely, quick-witted, Death Cab For Cutie loving geek on The O.C, the tables have been well and truly turned. ‘Geek Chic’ prevails, the once laughable clothing choices of society’s most brainy and introverted have been re-appropriated by the masses. Everyone is falling over themselves to replicate a look that twenty years ago would have posited the wearer of such garments as a human punch-bag for meat-headed bullies.

Adam Brody Attends Premiere Adam Brody has been credited with helping makes geeks cool through his O.C character Seth Cohen

In the world of TV, sci-fi shows such as Star Trek and Stargate are geek staples but the recent role reversal of geeks as the cultural vanguard posits fantastical shows that would have more likely been derided several years ago as universally acclaimed hits. Game Of Thrones is arguably the biggest TV show in the world whilst The Big Bang Theory, which maintains the long-held geek stereotypes has made veritable superstars of its cast. Here then, is a list of those geeky TV shows that we just can’t get enough of.

Game Of Thrones Vs. The Sopranos: Is Popularity Indicative Of Quality?

James Gandolfini HBO Game Of Thrones

The inevitable news that Game Of Thrones surpassed The Sopranos as HBO’s most ‘popular’ show arrived, rather pertinently, via a Tweet. "Raise a glass of Arbor gold. #GameofThrones is the most popular series in @HBO history. Thanks to the worldwide realm for all your support," it read.

The SopranosJames Gandolfini died in 2013

The Tweet is pertinent because it neatly frames Game of Thrones in history. HBO’s epic, multifaceted fantasy drama has thrived in a culture of sharing, spoiler warnings and episode discussion. As an online entertainment writer, I hear about GoT probably 8 million times a day. Those not involved in the industry will only see it cross their radar a few thousand times.

Game Of Thrones’ is a cultural phenomenon, whatever you think of the qualities it does or doesn’t possess. Typecast? No Sweat: Kit Harington On The Jon Snow Syndrome

The fantasy drama claims more actors’ lives than any other. But we’re not talking about anything serious like dangerous stunts leading to undesirable things like death; we’re talking about being typecast, something Kit Harington – who masterfully and with critical acclaim portrays the character of Jon Snow in Game Of Thrones – understands fully.

Kit HaringtonKit Harington isn't worried about being typecast

"I think all actors get typecast at first," he explained. "I think they see you in Thrones and the industry says: 'We like what he does in that, so let's use him in this because it's the same genre.’ You're always fighting against being typecast as an actor, but if you look at any actors from the past, they've all fit into a certain role."

The Emmy Awards 2013: Who's Deserving In The Outstanding Drama, Lead Actress & Actor Category?

Bryan Cranston Kerry Washington Elisabeth Moss Aaron Paul Kevin Spacey Game Of Thrones Damian Lewis Robin Wright

This year 'smart' dramas Homeland, Mad Men and Breaking Bad dominate the Primetime Emmy Award nominations yet again and even for fans of the TV shows, it will be hard to predict which of their favourite series will carry off the most gongs. The Hollywood Reporter's Stacey Wilson highlights just how highly contested this year's 'best drama' category is: "If you win this year, it's going to be a real feather," she said to ABC News. The nominees list for each category is decidedly hefty but we've identified the ones that are toughest to call.

Bryan Cranston
Bryan Cranston Voted Best Actor?

Having never won an 'outstanding drama' Emmy before, it looks like Breaking Bad could finally scoop the big gong this year having picked up five Primetime Emmy's before; 3 'best actors' for Bryan Cranston, 2 'best supporting actors' for Aaron Paul. With the first half of its final season currently airing, it looks like this could be the last chance for the show, as popular as ever, to scoop the night's biggest award. Downton Abbey, whilst having previously looked strong, has endured harsh reviews in its third season meaning it will be interesting to see whether this has had any impact on the voters.

Maisie Williams Tops The List For Best Reaction To Game Of Thrones' 'The Rains Of Castamere' Ending [Video]

Maisie Williams Game Of Thrones

Just about everyone watching this weeks instalment of Game Of Thrones - bar those who have read the books that is - either decided that they had witnessed one of the most shocking and amazing television episode ever, or decided they were through with serious drama for a while and best go back to the sanctity of cartoons. Either way, the shock ending must have gotten a reaction out of even the most stone faced of people, but Ayra Stark herself, actress Maisie Williams, may have had the best one.

(The rest of this article contains spoilers) So, we farewell to more than a few characters by the end of 'The Rains of Castamere,' with Robb Stark paying the ultimate price for turning down Marriage to one of Walder Frey's daughters in favour of Talisa, but maybe a few is an understatement considering pretty much all of the Stark army was killed, as was Catelyn. So in a way it make perfect sense that the youngest Stark daughter would have the most priceless reaction to the ending of the episode, after all, it could have been her too.

Jimmy Fallon's Tribute To 'Game Of Thrones' Is Actually Pretty Good [Video]

Jimmy Fallon Game Of Thrones

Jimmy Fallon has a history of celebrating pop culture on his show in a thoroughly enjoyable way, and his salute to HBO's hit fantasy series Game Of Thrones brought no change to the rule. The nearly 10-minute long tribute is currently doing the rounds across the web, and following a bleak and barren Sunday without the hit series Fallon's parody did just enough to keep GoT fans going until the return of season 3 later this year.

The Late Night... gang went all out for the tremendously OTT sketch, which looked to show the similarities between the Late Night studio and the fictional realm of Westeros, with the skit titled 'Game of Desks.' Fallon took on a variety of guises, including Sean Bean's Ned Stark and Emilia Clark's Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, with Late Night... regulars The Roots and even Jay Leno showing up for the 'behind the scenes' look at the Late Night... studio and the fight for the Iron Desk.

As House Fallon fought against House Fire Crotch in the bid to rule over the Rockefeller Kingdom, in the 'real' Game of Thrones world there has been a week off as the series draws towards it's penultimate episode of the third season. After this weeks laughs things will be getting serious again in the upcoming episode 'The Rains of Castamere,' which promises to be an all-action lead-up to full-blown conflict as the warring dominions of Westeros continue/begin their campaigns for the Iron Throne and the white walkers and wildings continue their marches down south.

Romance Explored In 'Game Of Thrones' Season 3 Episode 7

Peter Dinklage Game Of Thrones

There was an emotional goodbye on Game Of Thrones last night, with Brienne of Tarth parting ways with Jaime Lannister and causing moist eyes among characters and viewers alike.

The one-time brutal Lannister character – who’d once killed a King he’d sworn to protect – has made quite the advancement as Game of Thrones came on, and the latest episode was one of his most poignant moments yet. It’s unknown whether the goodbye between he and Brienne is going to be forever, but with Brienne off to find her fate out at the hand’s Lord Bolton’s man Locke it doesn’t look like she’s going to come to a happy end, not given she already has a few battle marks from her last skirmish with Bolton.

However, Brienne addressed Jaime with a name that he’d not been called in ages, given that he’d been known as the Kingslayer ever since his infamous incident. This noble gesture caused a break down in Lannister and he swore to Brienne to protect the Starks, even though they are his sworn enemies. Good stuff, and proof of the strong bond the pair have forged.

Bears And Baby Starks. Game Of Thrones Season 3, Episode 7: Brienne Vs. The Bear Recap

Peter Dinklage Game Of Thrones

This weeks Game Of Thrones was, essentially, more of a carry-on from last week rather than the great plot un-ravellers that weeks four and six were, but still it did have some rather exciting twists and turns, and as the title dictates, it included another untimely run in with Brienne and a bear, not that she's had the best of times since beginning her journey with Jamie to King's Landing began.

Brienne's encounter with Locke and his band of misfits looked to be the end of the Brienne we know, but her run in with that bear looked as though it would be the end of the character all together. Good to know that Westeros' most unlikely will-they-wont-they love story will continue for a little longer, although it would be rather unlikely that Jamie Lannister would end up hooking up with Brienne, even if they are pretty much best friends/constant life savers at the moment.

Elsewhere Arya has left the Brotherhood Without Banners after Gendry was hauled away by Melisandre and co. last week, only thing is she ended up right into the arms of the Hound (the last place anyone wants to be). Gendry meanwhile found out why he has been so longed for most of his life, as his royal origins as the bastard son of Robert Baratheon were revealed to him. Speaking of sons, the biggest (inbred) sonofabitch in the seven kingdoms, Joffrey, was finally put in his place by big daddy Lannister Tywin, after getting a little too uppity. It has to be said, whilst his sadistic tendencies are still in check despite Margaery Tyrell best efforts, we may have a royal family bust up in our hands very soon (we hope).

Game Of Thrones Review Roundup – Season 3 Episode 5: Kissed By Fire

Peter Dinklage Game Of Thrones

Hello fantasy drama fans; it’s Monday, and you know what that means. It’s time to take a look at the reviews for the weekend’s delectations TV-wise. And on the menu today is some Game Of Thrones, served up, as is customary, with a side of blood and guts. Spoiler alert, obviously.

Five episodes in to season three now, and things are getting serious. “Seasons one and two were both good,” say Forbes, “but the third has been some of the best television I’ve ever watched. I’m riveted by nearly every scene, and Sunday night’s episode is no exception.” This episode sees political tensions rise as the myriad strands are sewing up tighter as the Sundays go by. “Wherever it goes, I’ll be watching. I’m firmly under the show’s spell at this point, whether in the icy north or the dusty sun of Slaver’s Bay. HBO has brought life many of the characters from the books who felt too flat, and have stayed true to the characters who were already fleshed out in the books,” add Forbes in there review. And they weren’t the only ones who were impressed. “Back to back episodes featuring Dany, what a treat for us fans. The dragons must have been off fishing, but Grey Worm hooked me right in when he decided to keep his slave name because of his recent change in fortune. You had to give it to the guy for staying so positive after everything he has been through,” say TV Fanatic, and with a name like that, they should know.

Game of Thrones season five is shaping up to be HBO’s crown jewel for summer broadcasting. The dark fantasy drama has garnered many fans since it debuted three years ago, and it doesn’t look like relenting with a fourth season confirmed.

Game Of Thrones Season 3 Episode 4: Was It The Best Episode Yet? [Spoilers]

Peter Dinklage Diana Rigg Game Of Thrones

Season three episode four of Game Of Thrones is all about revenge. The final minutes of the episodes were a stunning crescendo, with the masters of Astapor learning that "a dragon is not a slave," in the worst possible way. The episode was arguably the one instalment of the season that wouldn't have looked out of place on the big-screen - it had real cinematic moments, thanks to director Alex Graves.

In the episode - And Now His Watch Has Ended - Peter Dinklage's Tyrion discusses the Battle of the Blackwater with Lord Varys. Does Varys have proof that the Queen tried to have Tyrion killed? Elsewhere, Diana Rigg's Lady Elenna meets with Varys to discuss her interest in Sansa

In the North, Bran has another of his crazy dreams where he is running through the woods with Jojen Reed chasing the tree-eyed-crow. He climbs a tree in pursuit of the crow, but falls when he sees his mother who begs him not to climb again: but what does it all mean? Over in the Riverlands, Arya, Gendry and Sandor Clegane are being transported to the hideout of the Brotherhood without Banners by Thoros and his men. There, they are introduced to Beric Dondarrion, to calls Clegane a murderer - something he refutes. Arya tells the Brotherhood of Micah that Clegane killed.

Game Of Thrones Star Peter Dinklage Gets Loads Of Sex – If Sex Means Gardening

Peter Dinklage Game Of Thrones

Peter Dinklage’s character in Game Of Thrones (Tyrion Lannister) is known for his way with women and numerous exploits of the many whorehouses within the Seven Kingdoms despite his diminutive stature. But these types of exploits aren’t mirrored in his day life by a long shot.

A video, which goes into detail about Dinklage’s sex life (entitled 'Peter Dinklage Gets So Much P***y') is the subject of a Playboy Magazine question to the actor. “By ‘p***y’ do they mean actual p***y? Or is it a metaphor, like for gardening?” he responds. “Because if that’s the case, then yes, I’ve been doing a lot of gardening lately. If they mean sex, they might be getting me confused with somebody else. But if p***y means wearing old-man sweaters and watering my herb garden, then absolutely, I’m getting so much p***y.” Considering Dinklage is a happily married man, the prospect of any extra-marital gardening going on is actually rather serious and we’re pretty sure he saves all his Lannister loving for his lawfully wedded wife. They’ve got a daughter, too, her name is Erica.

Game Of Thrones Star Circles The Financial Drain With Less Than $5 In Her Account

Lena Headey Game Of Thrones

Lena Headey plays an evil queen in Game Of Thrones, the popular fantasy drama on HBO/Sky Atlantic. But you’d be mistaken for thinking an actress doesn’t face financial problems, because this one does.

It’s not all Hollywood mansions, eating at fancy restaurants and lounging on a Caribbean beach, not for Headey anyway. In documents seized by TMZ, her husband Peter Loughran's demands for half of their $46,000 tax refund from 2011. She says she needs $6,000 from that refund as soon as possible, as she’s barely managing to get by, and has a 2-year-old son to look after. She also admitted to having less than $5 in her account. The Huffington Post gang got together on Huff Post live, and basically all agreed to not believing her in a jokey, but simultaneously serious way. One thing’s for sure though, she must have a lot of rich buddies who can lend her a hand from time to time, so as far as the sob-story goes, we’re not buying it. But we’re happy to believe she has a measly $5 in her account.

Game Of Thrones Producers Reacts Surprisingly Positively To Show Being 'Most Pirated'

Game Of Thrones

Game Of Thrones has begun it's third series on HBO, with the massively successful fantasy-action show looking to continue the phenomenal run of form that it has been on since it first aired in 2011. In December last year it emerged that all this success might actually be doing damage to the show however, after it was revealed that GoT was the most pirated show on the internet. Fortunately for the piraters though, the bosses behind the HBO show are not too bothered about the state of affairs.

Game of Thrones series three trailer - the most pirated trailer...

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo spoke about the rampant levels of piracy that does damage to the revenue made by premium cable channel. But rather than cry out for the blood of those who have wronged the show, in a fashion similar to how one of the character in GoT may have responded, Lombardo instead spoke positively of the illegal activity plaguing HBO programming, saying the measures people go through to see the shows comes as a compliment.

Forget Champagne, Crack Open A 'Game Of Thrones' Beer This Christmas

Stephen Dillane Peter Dinklage Game Of Thrones

Ok, so we got you a little excited with the headline. We weren't telling the whole truth, as the aforementioned Game Of Thrones beer isn't scheduled for release until March 31, 2013, though maybe you could save a couple of bottles for next Christmas? Anyway, what's it all about?

The upstate New York brewery Ommegang has formed a partnership with HBO to release an exclusive Game of Thrones themed ale to coincide with series three. The popular fantasy franchise has inspired a series of four beers, the first of which - a 6.5 per cent ABV blonde named Iron Throne - will hit shelves on March 31. Ommegang spokeswoman Allison Capozza described the flavor as "lightly malty" and is hopped with Styrian Holding, Hallertau and Noble hops. It will retail at $8.50 for a 750 millilitre bottle.  Three other beers are scheduled for fall 2013 (in time for Christmas) though are "just a concept at this point," according to Capozza.

HBO has a history of food and drink themed promotional campaigns for Game of Thrones. To celebrate the debut of Season 2, the network commissioned celebrity chef Tom Colicchio to cruise around New York and Los Angeles in a Game of Thrones themed food truck. According to the Washington Post, he served up delicacies such as rabbit, pigeon cooked in sweet wine and fish stew.

Sit Back, Open Up A Game Of Thrones Beer, And Guard The Wall

Sean Bean Game Of Thrones

While Contact Music preach sensible practise surrounding alcohol, we can't think of anything better than cracking open a Game Of Thrones Beer, popping season 3 on (when it's released) and drinking to glory.

The blonde ale from Ommegang brewery will be "crafted to directly tie into themes and nuances of the medieval-like fantasy realm of Westeros and the surrounding kingdoms," according to a company press release. Larry Bennett, head of PR and Creative Services for Ommegang, has been speaking to Paste mag about the formation of this partnership with HBO. "From our point of view of having to brew a Game of Thrones beer... well, it's a very dark and stormy series, and we discussed if we should start with a dark beer to compliment that aspect," he explained, "But, we decided against that in favor of starting with something a little more tap-friendly, a little more customer friendly, and work our way into it. So, we came up with the blonde ale, but, of course, at 6.5 percent, our blonde is still a relatively strong beer. With the future offerings, we may end up going stronger and darker, with lots of different characteristics."

Game of Thrones, starring Sean Bean, is one of the more recent additions to HBO's impressive roster, and was renewed for a third season by April 10, 2012. Production began in July 2012, and the season will premiere on March 31, 2013.
