Funk icon George Clinton has settled a copyright infringement lawsuit with the Black Eyed Peas over his track (Not Just) Knee Deep.
Clinton's lawyers filed the copyright infringement suit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in December 2010, claiming the R&B group sampled his classic hit on the remix of its 2003 single Shut Up without permission.
He was seeking compensation for the use of his work, and on Monday (14May12) the case was settled following mediation. A federal judge in Los Angeles subsequently cancelled an upcoming trial as lawyers finalise an agreed settlement.
