George and Amal Clooney have welcomed a new member of their family – an adorable basset hound dog named Millie, whom they adopted from an animal shelter earlier this week.

The San Gabriel Valley Humane Society said on its website that the Clooneys adopted the four year old dog from them on Wednesday (October 28th). Millie was found homeless a month ago, begging for scraps outside a restaurant, and was taken in by the shelter.

The site says that George, 54, and Amal, 37, were looking for a basset hound to join their other rescue dogs, a cocker spaniel named Louie and a spaniel mix named Einstein, and found Millie’s picture via the site Petfinder.

ADOPTED! Millie was adopted by George Clooney and his wife Amal!! Millie, a bassett hound, now has a new brother named Louie who is also a rescue! Congratulations and thank you for adopting!!

The celeb power couple were sure to find out whether the new dog would get along before filling out the paperwork, bringing along Louie to the animal sanctuary! “They did a ‘meet and greet’ with her and spent time introducing her to their other rescue,” the site confirmed.

“It was good news that Millie and Louie hit it off and the happy, new family headed home together!” the site finished. Clooney adopted his first dog Einstein in 2010, and recently gave an interview to Esquire in which he recalled the adoption process.

“I start to panic that Einstein is not going to like me, so I run into the kitchen, where I have these turkey meatballs, and I rub them all over my shoes. Who knew Einstein was such a food wh**e on top of everything? He throws himself at my feet.”

George and Amal Clooney recently celebrated their one year wedding anniversary. They were married on September 27th in a palace in Venice, Italy.
