Ah, the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Celebrity pals Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and George Clooney – the first two are married – built holiday homes next to each other so they could hang out while on vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico.

"We saw this oceanfront lot and thought maybe it made sense to building something," Gerber told the new issue of Architectural Digest magazine. "Our lives go back and forth," Crawford said. "We'll have cocktails at our place and dinner at George's, or vice-versa."

Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Swanning around the coast of Mexico, popping to Cindy Crawford’s house for a margarita before receiving a text that says ‘dinners ready’. Clooney probably wears really expensive slippers around his house, catching glimpses of his magnificent beard on the shiny marble.

Their houses aren’t exactly the same though. In fact, they were going to be one big house before the couple and their single friend decided it would be best to separate them. "They're not twins, but more like sisters or cousins," Clooney said. "If my house were truly open it would present too many opportunities for people to take pictures."

Aside from lounging around in Mexico, sipping cocktails in his next-door-neighbor’s house, Clooney has been quite busy; he’s been working on Gravity and The Monuments Men – two Oscar frontrunners – and he’s been commenting on the current political situation in America.

On the government shutdown, Clooney said: “I know for a fact that there's a lot of guys on the right, Peter King, for instance, and some people like that, who are also doing the best they can to stop this from happening or to put an end to it. “He added: "You just hope that it happens soon."
