At the moment George Clooney’s personal and professional life couldn’t be going any better! As well as preparing to marry Amal Alamuddin in Venice, Italy, the 53 year-old actor will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at next year’s Golden Globes.

Theo Kingma, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), announced on Monday (Spet 15th), “The HFPA is honored to bestow the Cecil B. DeMille Award to George Clooney to celebrate his outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera.”

And Clooney is undoubtedly a worthy recipient, during his hugely success film and television career he has earned a total of thirteen Golden Globe nominations in nine different categories. Last year alone, Clooney starred in the award-winning flick ‘Gravity,’ as well as directing, producing and starring in ‘The Monuments Men.’

The Hollywood hunk can be next seen the Disney sci-fi film, ‘Tomorrowland,’ which will hit theatres later this year.

Clooney is also receiving the award, which is given to people for their "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment,” for his humanitarian work, especially in Darfur, Africa. In 2006 he and his father travelled to the poverty-stricken country and made ‘Journey to Darfur,’ a documentary about the drought there.

Two years later, Clooney was assigned as a U.N. Messenger of Peace, and in 2010 he and Joel Gallen and Tenth Planet Productions helped create the telethon ‘Hope For Haiti Now!,’ which raised $66 million.

Last year film director Woody Harrelson was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille award, George will receive his NBC on Jan 11th, 2015.
