Since Star Wars: Return of the Jedi was released back in 1983 fans have been left to speculate about what life had left in store for Luke, Leia and Han. Director George Lucas teased Star Wars fans by releasing Episodes 1, 2 and 3 between 1999 and 2005, which focused on the lives of Luke and Leia’s parents, Anakin Skywalker and Padme as well as a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the much loved original characters were only seen as newborn babies at the very end of Episode 3.

30 years have now passed since the release of Return of the Jedi and by the end of 2015 the much anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII will finally be released. George Lucas has always been secretive about his plans for the plot of the final three Star Wars movies, although he has been known to occasionally give away the odd indication of what may have happened since that party, where we see that Obi-Wan and Anakin have finally made (spiritual) peace with one another.

Though the hints have been cryptic, it’s assumed that the new trilogy will take place 20-40 years after the death of Darth Vader at the end of Return of the Jedi, as well as seeing the fallen Republic rebuilt. We also are expecting to catch up with twins Luke and Leia, as well as intergalactic smuggler, Han Solo, as it has been rumoured that original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles. Additionally we’ll see the return of lovable droids C-3PO and R2-D2.

A shot released by Lucasfilm of a production meeting has shown some tantalising images from the upcoming movie in the background. From the blurry background images we can just about make out the distinctive lights of Han’s beloved spacecraft, the Millennium Falcon, making it’s way along the Kessel Run, a route used by smugglers to transport glitterstim spice out of Kessel. Does this mean that Han is still up to his old smuggling tricks? Or have Han and Leia produced a mini smuggler together in the years that have passed since their last appearance? We could carry on speculating forever about this one!

In another movie still we can just about make out the shoulders of a cloaked figure, possibly a Jedi or even an indication that the Sith Order are planning to make a return in Episode VII.

Either way, there’s a lot to look forward to and we’ll just have to carry on guessing until Star Wars: Episode VII is released in December 2015. Come on Lucasfilm, release a few more production meeting shots so we can carry on making outlandish guesses about what's going to happen!  Click here for news on other confirmed cast members.
