George R. R. Martin was the surprise attendee of a Games of Thrones fan-experience at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday night (March 20, 2014), where 7,000 fans turned out to watch the fourth season premiere two weeks before it airs on HBO.

One for the real die-hards, the event gave fans the opportunity to sit on the 'Iron Throne', drink 'Game of Thrones' beer and get close to the costumes worn by their favorite characters, according to the Huffington Post.

However, it was the premiere of new episode 'Two Swords' that was the real action, with rapper Common taking to the stage to perform his 'Catch the Thrones' mix-tape The Ladder. One lucky fan even won a life-sized Iron Throne replica.

As well as Martin - the author of the Game of Thrones books - the masses were treated to apperances from Masie Williams, John Bradley, Kristian Nairn and Sibel Kekilli.

A Q&A session gave fans the opportunity to quiz Martin about Daenerys dragons, which are becoming more dangerous by the day.

"It remains to be seen if anything can kill a dragon, except perhaps, another dragon," Martin teased, "Dragons do have a pretty good record of killing each other, so, there is that."

Game of Thrones season 4 is scheduled to premiere on April 6, 2014, on HBO. Fans of the series received some welcome news after the Brooklyn event, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are to continue writing the show for seasons 5 and 6. The pair have suggested the endgame for the series is seven or eight seasons.
