When George Michael’s car accident was reported, and subsequently passed off as "superficial cuts and bruises" by his publicist Connie Filipello, no one quite knew the seriousness of the incident, until now.

Katherine Fox, 23, an eyewitness, says that Michael fell from his Range Rover on the M1. “He was lucky he didn’t die,” she explained. "There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth,” added Fox. "He was breathing and conscious but in shock." Katherine was driving along the busy motorway when all of a sudden; George Michael fell from his car and onto the road. “I thought someone had run across the road and been hit. I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph. George was airlifted to hospital on Thursday from the scene. Hours later his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, speaking at their North London home, said: “I’ve spoken to him and he’s good."

Michael’s health issues have been well documented of late, most notably, his bout of pneumonia in late 2011. "They spent three weeks keeping me alive basically," he said. "It was basically by far the worst month of my life." Michael made these comments in a teary appearance outside his London house, claiming it was “touch and go" as to whether he lived or died.
