George Michael was on hand to present British broadcasting favourite Jonathan Ross with a special award on Monday (02Nov09) in recognition of his commitment to the music industry.
TV chatshow host Ross was honoured with the 2009 Music Industry Trusts' Award at a ceremony in London, and he was the toast of the town - receiving videos of congratulations from stars including Will Smith, U2 and Sir Tom Jones.
After Faith hitmaker Michael handed the broadcaster his prize, organisers at the event showed a pre-recorded message from Smith, who has appeared on the star's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross show on numerous occasions.
In the tape, the actor said, "You are important to me and to my life. This is a very prestigious award."
Ross was honoured for ensuring new bands gained exposure throughout his three-decade spanning career.
Other stars to praise Ross' achievements via videolink included singer and The X Factor judge Cheryl Cole.
Previous winners of the annual award include Sir Elton John, Australian superstar Kylie Minogue and Beatles producer Sir George Martin.
