The spoken word artist to gather more followers on 'The Ground Up Tour'.
It seems the music industry is making way for real poetry and up and coming spoken word artist George The Poet could be among the pioneering youngsters of this generation in the art of musical poetry. While his fellow musicians are more focused on entertainment, he sees the importance of getting across essential social messages.
George The Poet to hit the road again
He's just announced the he is set to hit the road in October 2015 for 'The Ground Up Tour', and 24-year-old Londoner George Mpanga sees this as another great opportunity to gather followers. 'I believe rap is a specialist form of poetry', he explains in a recent interview. 'Now, what made me adapt my style into spoken word is that I wanted to get the communication down so that everyone knew what I was talking about.' Nothing was more affecting than the message he aimed to put across in his latest single 'Search Party'; a politically charged track originally from his new book 'Introducing George The Poet: Search Party: A Collection of Poems', that he wrote in the lead up to the UK general election.
What else does the city of Leeds have to offer this May?
So, Live At Leeds is but two weeks away from bringing some of the country's best music veterans and up and coming stars to one of its greatest cities. But while you're there, you may as well enjoy the rest of what this incredible Yorkshire city has to offer.
Home to two universites, an extraodinary library, a colossal shopping centre and some of the best restaurants in the nation, Leeds is the place to be to kick off festival season even without taking the music into account. While the weekend of May 1st to 4th may boast a line-up including The Cribs, Gaz Coombes, George The Poet, MNEK, Gengahr, The Strypes and more, there's plenty of places to sit and let it all soak in while enjoying a decent meal and a pint.

Years & Years are the BBC's Sound Of 2015
The London trio have beaten the likes of James Bay, Stormzy, Raury and George The Poet to the top spot as this year's most exciting act as they prepare to unveil yet another single this Spring. The band; who are Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen; formed in 2010 and made their breakthrough in 2012 with single 'I Wish I Knew'. Fast-forward to 2014 and they were quickly becoming one of the UK's top synthpop bands of the day, having appeared on The Magician's hit single 'Sunlight' and touring across the country with Sam Smith and Clean Bandit.
