The 91 year old, who suffers from a form of Parkinson's disease and uses a wheelchair, fell at his home in Kennebunkport, Maine and was taken to hospital, but his spokesman insists Bush's injury is not serious.

Jim MCGrath wrote in a statement on Twitter.com, "(Bush) fell at home in Maine today and broke a bone in his neck. His condition is stable - he is fine - but he'll be in a neck brace."

Bush served as the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993. His son George W. Bush became the 43rd President, and another son Jeb has announced plans to run for office in 2016.
