U.S. comedian George Wallace has won more than $1.3 million (£812,500) in a civil lawsuit against bosses at a casino resort in Las Vegas.

The funnyman sued bosses at the Bellagio hotel for negligence in 2009 after he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during a performance at the venue in 2007. He tripped on audio cables which were not properly secured and claimed to have walked with a permanent limp ever since.

On Tuesday (08Apr14), a jury found that Bellagio executives had breached their duty of care to Wallace.

He was awarded $1.2 million (£750,000) for loss of income, $100,000 (£62,500) for pain and suffering and $8,500 (£5,312) for medical expenses.
