When asked about a new Gorillaz album, Hewlett told DIY magazine, "That's next year. I'm working on it at the moment, and it's going very well. I'm very excited. I don't want to say too much about it, but I'm at that phase of experimentation.”

Hewlett then elaborated on the band’s 2016 plans while speaking to the NME on Tuesday (October 13th). "Damon has started making some music around all his other projects. I'm working on it at the moment and 2016 is going to be Gorillaz all year."

When asked how long fans may have to wait for the new material Hewlett added, ”He's quite prolific, Damon - I don't think it will be long!” The artist said it was too early to know which other musicians might appear on the album, but guests in the past have included Snoop Dogg and Shaun Ryder.

As for what to expect from the band visually, Hewlett said, "It's going to change - I can't tell you how. But of course it's going to be different, I can't do what I've already done, that’s not interesting to me.
