Graham Coxon Love Travels at Illegal Speeds Album

The ex Blur guitarist releases his 6th album Love Travels at Illegal Speeds on March 13th. It would not take a genius to figure out that this album may be about love and relationships and when you look at the title of some of the tracks you would be hard pushed not to believe that Mr Coxon has perhaps been listening to Mr Morrissey for inspiration.

Opening track Standing on my own again, is a great track, typical coxon, typical indie, typical blur sounding, but just typically fantastic. I Cant Look at Your Skin is almost I fought the law sounding but not as punk. Just a State of Mind is more sombre sounding and very Blur sounding. Apart from his previous singles such as Freakin Out, this is the first I have listened to Graham's solo material and I have to admit I am impressed, very impressed. This is not your typical lovey dovey album, as coxon admitted, "'I didn't set out to write a love album,".
The only thing apart from the title that suggests a love album are song titles such as, Gimme Some Love, You & I, What's He Got?, You Always Let Me Down and Don't Let Your Man Know to name but a few.

Each song seems to be better than the one before. This is a great album and a great addition to anyone's music collection. There seems to be a bit of everything on this album and I just can't get enough of it. This is without a doubt a must for all Blur fans and for all indie music fans. This is refreshing, interesting and value for money.

8 out of 10.
