Green Day have been announced to headline Barclaycard's British Summer Time Hyde Park in London next Summer, following their European tour at the beginning of 2017. The band are also just about to launch their twelfth studio album 'Revolution Radio' this Fall - so there's plenty to look forward to from these guys over the next few months.

Green DayGreen Day to headline BST Hyde Park

The punk rock band will hit London's Hyde Park on July 1st 2017, celebrating the festival's fifth anniversary. But if you can't make it to that show, Green Day will also be making appearances at various UK venues in February, promoting their epic new record 'Revolution Radio' featuring the single 'Bang Bang'.

'London in the summer, us and tens of thousands of fans having the biggest party in one of the world's most legendary venues', frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said in a statement obtained by NME. 'We have the best year to look forward to and this has just made it extra special.'

Former headliners of this legendary one-day event include The Libertines, The Strokes, Blur, Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones and Stevie Wonder. The full line-up for next year is yet to be announced, but tickets go on sale on Friday (October 7th 2016), the same time - coincidentally - as the release of their latest album 'Revolution Radio'.

The lead single for 'Revolution Radio', 'Bang Bang', was released on August 11th and reached number three on the US Alternate Songs chart. The self-produced album was recorded at the OTIS studio in Oakland, California and it sees the band return as trio Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool for the first time since 2009's '21st Century Breakdown' after guitarist Jason White worked with them on their 2012 album trilogy '¡Uno!', '¡Dos!' and '¡Tré!'.

Before their slot at BST Hyde Park, Green Day will be touring Europe in January and February, reaching countries the likes of Italy, Germany, Sweden, France and, of course, the UK. They'll play Leed's First Direct Arena, the Manchester Arena and London's O2 Arena between February 6th and 8th. Plus, this October they'll be playing around North America with six sold out shows.

'Revolution Radio' is out on October 7th 2016 through Reprise Records.
