Green Day have performed their first major live show since Billie Joe Armstrong left rehab.

The US rockers performed a two-hour set at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas - one of the biggest venues being used for this year's South by Southwest festival - on Friday (15.03.13) night and showed no signs of the problems they have experienced in recent months.

At one point, Billie Joe - who left rehab in January after a four-month stint for drug and alcohol addiction - made reference to his problems with a joke.

Only realising he was speaking into a microphone that was switched off when a technician changed the device, he laughed: ''I wasn't even on drugs.''

The group's 24-song set mixed material from their latest 'iUno!', 'iDos!' and 'iTre!' albums, as well as drawing on their extensive back catalogue.

There was also a medley of classic rock hits, including Guns N' Roses' 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell'.

The festival also saw the band's new films, 'Broadway Idiot' and 'Cuatro' screened at the city's Paramount Cinema.

The group's tour, which was postponed following Billie Joe's breakdown last September, is due to start later this month.
