Veteran rocker Gregg Allman has cancelled most of his upcoming tour dates due to "serious health issues.” According to Rolling Stone Allman is currently under his doctor's care at the Mayo Clinic, resulting in 28 shows being cancelled.

“I want to thank my fans and friends for supporting me while I rest up and focus on getting better and back on the road as soon as I can," Allman said in a statement. "I've been working hard with my band, my pride and joy, to play our music for everyone. We'll see y'all in October.”

Allman had been scheduled to play Pennsylvania's Peach Music Festival on August 11th, alongside that date 27 others have been cancelled, but ticket holders have been promised information will be given as soon as possible.

The cancellations also included his August shows alongside ZZ Top, his September solo tour and his September 25th appearance at his own Laid Back Festival in Morrison Colorado, He is scheduled his return to the stage when the Laid Back Festival comes to Atlanta on October 29th. He also has a 10-night residency at New York's City Winery beginning November 6th.

Allman has suffered numerous health problems in recent years and in 2011 he cancelled a solo tour after suffering from an upper respiratory condition, which led to lung surgery later that year. In 2007 he was diagnosed with hepatitis C and three years later he underwent a successful liver transplant.
