A petition has been created in honor of a 'Midnight Rider' crewmember who died in an on-set accident last week.

The document, which has 31,247 signatures at this current moment, asks the Academy-Awards to add late camera assistant, Sarah Elizabeth Jones, to the 'In Memoriam' segment on Sunday (March 1st).

The 27 year-old was involved in a fatal accident last Thursday (Feb 20th), when she was struck by a freight train while working as a second camera assistant on the Gregg Allman biopic, 'Midnight Rider'.

"Crew members are the unsung heroes of film and television production who work long hours and sometimes very dangerous conditions for the love of filmmaking," the petition states.

"Sarah Elizabeth Jones was one of us," it continues. "We ask for Sarah Elizabeth Jones' love and passion for filmmaking be acknowledged on the grandest stage of all, The Academy Awards."

A tribute page called 'Slates For Sarah' has also been set up on Facebook, and crew members from around the world are posting pictures and messages which have been written on film slates.

The page has already garnered 34,500 likes, and actress Alyssa Milano also paid tribute by taking a photo of the film slates on ABC's 'Mistresses.'

Other social media outlets have been posting various messages and photos with a 'Slates for Sarah' hashtag.

'Vampire Diaries' star Nina Dobrev instagrammed a collage of members of the TV series' cast & crew holing up slates. The caption read, "Sarah Jones had the most beautiful spirit and a smile that lit up our set for years... http://www.whosay.com/l/GEf7SN9 #SlatesForSarah #RIP."

Dobrev also tweeted a link to Jones' online petition, urging all her 4.45 million followers to sign.
