Acclaimed fantasy film PAN'S LABYRINTH swept the board at the Mexican film awards on Tuesday (20MAR07).
Director Guillermo Del Toro's movie claimed nine honours at the annual Ariel Awards, Best Picture and Best Director.
One of the film's stars, Spaniard Maribel Verdu claimed the Best Actress prize and the film's cinematography, art direction, original score, makeup, costume design and special effects were also honoured.
In his Best Director acceptance speech, del Toro dedicated his award to "the new generation of (Mexican) filmmakers".
