The Man From U.N.C.L.E looks pretty awesome.
The first trailer for Guy Ritchie's take on the iconic 1960s spy series The Man from U.N.C.L.E has rolled out online and the British filmmaker appears to have made a movie - or at least attempted to make a movie - that is stylish, humorous and action-packed.
Henry Cavill replaced Tom Cruise in The Man From U.N.C.L.E
In the big-screen adaptation, Henry Cavill plays Napoleon Solo, a slick American spy who teams up with Russian Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) to stop a rogue organization that is fully nuclear equipped. The duo's only real lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist who is key to infiltrating the shadowy organization. They now face a race against time to save the world - which just sounds awesome, doesn't it?
Jared Harris co-stars in The Man from UNCLE
The movie has history in Hollywood and numerous well respected filmmakers have at some point wanted to take a punt on it. Steven Soderbergh was going to helm the film as one of the last movies he made before his retirement and he was in serious negotiations with George Clooney for the Napoleon Solo role. Clooney ended up having to leave the project, leading Soderbergh to jump too.

The movie eventually came out of limbo when Ritchie - hugely well thought of after his Sherlock success - signed on and persuaded Tom Cruise to play Solo. Things hit another snag when Cruise left the project to make Mission: Impossible 5. Luckily, Cavill's star was on the rise after Man of Steel and Ritchie was only too happy to replace his leading man.
Armie Hammer plays Henry Cavill's sidekick in The Man From U.N.C.L.E
The Man From U.N.C.L.E, Ritchie's first non-Sherlock movie since RocknRolla, co-stars the wonderful Alicia Vikander as well as Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris and HUGH GRANT. It's out on August 14.
