Gwen Stefani has spoken about her painful break-up from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, who she divorced last October after 13 years of marriage. Tabloids have blamed the breakdown of the couple’s marriage on Rossdale’s infidelity, but while Gwen is refusing to confirm the rumours she does admit the saga is a “really good, juicy story”.

Speaking to the New York Times, Gwen said: “If I could, I would just tell you everything, and you would just be in shock. It’s a really good, juicy story.” Rossdale has been accused of having an affair with one of the couple’s nannies, a rumour which neither party has confirmed.

Gwen said that when her 13 year marriage broke down she thought, “I’m gonna die, I am dead, actually. How do I save myself? What am I going to do? How do I not go down like this?” But the 46-year-old was able to pull herself up, by focusing on writing her new album This Is What the Truth Feels Like.

“I have to make music out of this,” Gwen said. “That’s what God wants for me.” After announcing her break-up with Rossdale, Gwen appeared as a coach on ‘The Voice’, where she met singer Blake Sheldon, whose marriage had also just ended.

Gwen said Blake “had been going through literally the exact same thing in literally the exact same time frame,” and a friendship soon blossomed between the pair. “Never in my wildest, craziest dreams would I ever have seen this coming,” she added.

This Is What the Truth Feels Like is released later this month and while things still can still be tough, Gwen is optimistic. “I’m not going to say I’m not still picking up the pieces and every day isn’t a challenge,” she said. “I’m still in shock. But it’s an awesome time.”
