Things have moved very quickly for Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, having only begun their relationship less than 12 months ago. However, sources close to the couple have now started to intimate that there will be wedding bells for the couple in the near future.

“They are not engaged yet,” says a source close to 46 year old Stefani told People on Wednesday evening (August 3rd). “Everyone is expecting it to happen at some point, though.”

The former No Doubt lead singer, who separated from her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale last July, is currently in the middle of a U.S. tour, promoting her comeback album This Is What The Truth Feels Like, so it’s not been ideal for planning the future.

The unnamed source continued: “It seems the timing [for an engagement] just hasn't been right. But Gwen is very, very happy with Blake. She always acts giddy when she talks about Blake.”

Another separate source said much the same thing: “There are no immediate plans for their future, but it's a serious relationship.”

40 year old Shelton, who also underwent a painful divorce at about the same time as Stefani from his ex-wife Miranda Lambert, is also on the comeback trail with a recent album If I'm Honest, and has played a handful of surprise gigs in intimate venues over the last few weeks.

As he’s also in the same industry, he is uniquely positioned to understand that now isn’t quite the right time to talk about marriage.

“Blake has been very excited for her,” the Stefani confidante added to People, saying that she also plans to visit Shelton when he goes in tour late this year. “He understands the pressure of a tour before it all kicks off, and he is Gwen's biggest fan.”

Many have commented that their personalities seem drastically different, but they have more in common underneath the surface. “Their relationship is almost too good to be true,” says the Stefani source. “They are very much alike and really have a very special relationship. All the things that need to work out for two people to merge lives have worked out.”
