Halle Berry Stung For $16K A Month Child Support After Lawsuit

Halle Berry Gabriel Aubry Olivier Martinez

Halle Berry has been ordered to pay her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry $16,000 a month in child support. A Los Angeles court told the actress she must pay the Canadian model the substantial monthly sum to support their 6 year-old daughter, Nahla, until she turns 19 years old or graduates from high school. In addition, Aubry was awarded $115,000 in retroactive support.

The 47 year-old film star gave birth to Nahla in 2008 before splitting from Aubry in April 2010. The former couple reached an initial custody agreement in September 2012 after an ongoing ugly dispute during which things even came to blows between Aubry and Berry's now-husband, Olivier Martinez.

The couple now share equal custody of their daughter, according to People. The Oscar-winning actress will also pay for Nahla's schooling but will split healthcare expenses with her ex-lover. She and Martinez were reportedly keen on moving to France and taking Nahla with them but a judge blocked them from taking the child to live outside the US.

The Movies Of The Wachowski's: From Best To Worst

Lilly Wachowski The Matrix V For Vendetta Hugo Weaving Keanu Reeves Carrie-Anne Moss Laurence Fishburne Halle Berry Natalie Portman Jennifer Tilly Gina Gershon

Press shy and intentionally low-profile, the Wachowski brothers (now brother and sister) occupy a rare position in Hollywood of being household names, responsible for some truly awe-inspiring works of cinematic innovation that have enamoured critics and audiences alike. Yet, unlike directors of a similar calibre and position in pop culture- Tarantino and JJ Abrams for instance, they allow their films to speak for themselves, eschewing the usual directorial promotional tropes and refusing interviews.

 Wachowskis
Andy and Lana Wachowski rarely appear in public and never commit to promoting their films.

They are so ardent to withhold anonymity in favour of greater artistic candour that it is reportedly highlighted in the Wachowski’s contracts that they will remain unburdened by arduous press commitments. Despite this, the pair are amongst the biggest names in Hollywood, thanks mainly to the Matrix trilogy, which revolutionized the cinematic experience. A Wachowski Bros. picture is synonymous with outstanding cinematography, multi-dimensional plots and a visual feast that is never short of the spectacular. Positing a triple threat of sorts, the Andy and Lana have proven their ability to not only direct a picture, but also to produce and pen truly original and brilliant screenplays in their own right.

Has Amazon Secured The 'Next Big Thing' With 'Extant' Starring Halle Berry?

Halle Berry Steven Spielberg

As the battle for the content streaming crown rages on, Netflix currently sit atop the hill with a smug grin on their face. But Amazon is slowly but surely chipping away at the Cali-based service, firstly by offering delivery, books plus streaming for a similar price, then by claiming the monumental scalp that is HBO, and now Extant, the Halle Berry sci-fi drama produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS studios.

Amazon Prime Instant

Described as “a bold and thrilling new series,” Extant stars Berry as an astronaut trying to reconnect with her family after a year in space. Chris Bird, Amazon's Instant Video film and TV strategy director added: "Having such a highly anticipated and star-studded show premiere exclusively on Prime Instant Video is a perfect example of our ongoing commitment to bringing the very best in movie and TV entertainment to our customers in the UK."

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Is The Blockbuster To Beat With Huge Opening Box Office

X-men: Days Of Future Past Review

Excellent

Continuing to be the most original and resonant of the Marvel superhero franchises, the X-men return in the capable hands of director Bryan Singer, who again stirs plenty of meaty subtext beneath the thrilling action. He also has one of the best casts imaginable, including Oscar winners, cinema royalty, rising stars and matinee idols.

Best of all, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) returns to the fold after two less-than-thrilling solo adventures. He's at the centre of everything here, as Professor X and Magneto (Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen) ask Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) to send Wolverine's consciousness back 50 years to 1973. His mission is to prevent Dr Trask (Peter Dinklage) from inventing mutant-hunting robots, because they will go out of control and cause a present-day dystopia in which mutants and anyone who sympathises with them are killed. But Wolverine's biggest task will be to get the then-feuding Professor X and Magneto (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) to work together to keep renegade mutant Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) from making everything worse.

Thankfully, Simon Kinberg's script doesn't worry too much about the whole time-travel thing, shrugging off dubious logic by keeping the focus on the characters. And there are a lot of people to keep an eye on, which makes the film sometimes feel a bit crowded and leaves some characters barely on-screen at all (blink and you'll miss Anna Paquin's Rogue). The best newbie is Evan Peters' Quicksilver, who gets the film's most entertaining sequence as he races around tweaking an action sequence frame by frame. Other set-pieces are grippingly darker, and some don't quite make sense (why does Magneto feel the need to levitate an entire stadium?).

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Trailer

The mutants of the world are quickly dwindling in their numbers, tearing each other apart until they are almost wiped out. Two of the wisest X-Men of the universe, Charles Xavier and Magneto, must now join forces despite their hostile relationship to go back in time and fix the world so that their kind can survive the horrors of their ravaged future. The duo enlist Wolverine to help them on their mission; a mutant whose healing powers make him the only one strong enough to travel in time. He must find the impulsive fools that are Xavier and Magneto as much younger mutants and warn them of what their actions will do for their future, while on the way attempt to save the life of an important political figure. It’s been a relatively quiet few years for Halle Berry on the movie front – her role in Cloud Atlasbeing the last ‘big’ one before X-Men: Days of Future Past (due May 2014). But in Frankie and Alice, she gets the chance to fulfil a role close to her heart. But Berry actually filmed this film a whopping 6 years ago in 2008, while the 2010 release date only applied to Europe.

Having been shelved, Frankie & Alice finally finds itself hitting U.S shores following a limited release to allow it to compete in the awards scene. The film – based on a true story – sees Berry star as a go-go dancer with a dissociative identity disorder. Her alter egos include a 7-year-old child named Genius and a Southern racist woman named Alice, who also happens to be white. In a bid to cure the voices in her head, Frankie visits a top psychotherapist, played by Stellan Skarsgard.

Frankie is a troubled African American go-go dancer in the 70s who begins a mental struggle when she repeatedly forgets large chunks of her life. She finds a crossword filled out in childish handwriting and an expensive designer dress in her wardrobe she doesn't remember purchasing among the various confusing clues suggesting there's something wrong. She is suffering from dissociative identity disorder (DID), more commonly known as multiple personality disorder, in which she possesses two alter-egos. One of them is Genius, a smart young child, while the other is the unashamedly racist Alice who appears to be a white woman with a Southern American accent. Unable to link these personalities together herself, the people around her - from friends and family to conquests and the authorities - are becoming desperately confused with her unpredictable behaviour and she is referred to a doctor who is determined to bring her out of her debilitating ordeal.

Celebrities Rejoice As California Passes Tough New Bill Against Paparazzi

Halle Berry Jennifer Garner

It was a good day for celebrity parents on Tuesday, 24 September, after California Senator Kevin de Leon passed the SB606 Bill into legislation. The new law will place tighter sanctions against paparazzi in the state of California, prohibiting them from taking photographs of celebrities and their children, without prior consent to do so. The law will enforce tougher repercussions on any photographers who are found breaking these new restrictions.

Sen. Kevin de Leon is being praised by celebrities for enforcing the tougher sanctions against the press

A number of well-known stars had pushed for the bill to be entered into state law, and Sen. de Leon has been praised for enforcing the tougher legislative restrictions on photographers. The new law will boost penalties for actions that include taking photos and video of a child without parental consent and will also impose tougher sanctions against anyone who is considered to behaving in a harassing manner whilst photographing stars. The new law has not been passed solely for the protection of celebrities either, as de Leon said that he hoped the new law would help protect the children of law enforcement officials and other children who may be susceptible to harassment due to the profession of their parents.

The Call Review

Very Good

After this unusually well-made thriller builds suspense to almost unbearable levels, the filmmakers nearly throw everything away with a gear-change so contrived that we can't help but laugh. It's one of those ill-conceived final acts that seems to have been written by a focus group that wanted to see something "satisfying" on screen even if it violates the integrity of the entire story. Fortunately the cast is good enough to get away with it.

Most of the story takes place in a Los Angeles emergency call centre, where Jordan (Berry) receives a horrific call from a teen girl who's being stalked in her own home. And Jordan blames herself for the violence that follows. Six months later, she has removed herself to a training job, but gets roped in when another teen, Casey (Breslin), calls in panic from the boot of a moving car. This is clearly the same villain (Eklund) as before, and Jordan does everything she can to help Casey both survive and reveal her location. Along the way Jordan's assisted by a passerby (Imperioli) as well as her cop ex-boyfriend (Chestnut).

So far so good, as both Jordan's and Casey's perspectives ratchet up the emotional intensity. The kidnapper is seriously deranged and oddly difficult to track as time runs out. And here's where the film jumps the rail: Jordan takes matters into her own hands, heading out into danger without bothering to call for back-up. This sets up a rather terrifying final showdown that would have been much more involving if we could believe it.

Beyonce is the latest star to try out the ever-popular 'pixie' look, as the singer has chopped off her once flowing locks in favour of a much easier to handle look. The star uploaded a trio of images showing off her new look to her Instagram page yesterday (8 August) and since then it has been awash with comments from fans and onlookers, with some praising the new look as a revelation, whilst other think it is a major fashion misstep.

Beyonce New Hair
Beyonce showed off her new look on Instagram this week

The 'Crazy In Love' pop diva debuted the look on her Instagram, posting three un-captioned images of herself, but what is it about this new look that means so much? Usually when a star chops off their locks, it is done in a bid to reinvent themselves and cast off a previous image - ala Rihanna and Emma Watson - so is this new look a nod in the direction of her alter ego Sasha Fierce, or is this a new persona emerging from Bey? Maybe it has nothing to do with a statement at all, and after her near miss with an electric fan during a recent Toronto show, perhaps Bey just fancied something different when se last visited her hairdresser.
