Halle Berry has pulled out of the Oscars due to a broken foot.

The 'New Year's Eve' star was set to present alongside actor Tom Hanks at the 84th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood later today (27.02.12), but has cancelled her appearance because of the injury.

Academy Awards Producer Brian Grazer confirmed the change of plan to E! News, but it is not yet known who, if anyone, will replace the 45-year-old mother-of-one - who won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2002 for her work in 'Monster's Ball'.

Halle suffered the injury back in September whilst filming 'Cloud Atlas' in Spain. According to Warner Bros., the accident occurred while she was, ''walking in Majorca on a day off from filming'', although People Magazine reported that she hurt herself whilst chasing daughter Nahla, three, who was running after a goat across Rocky countryside.

Despite six months having passed, Halle - who is rumoured to be planning to move to France to be with boyfriend, French actor Olivier Martinez - was pictured wearing a brace boot on her right leg just last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It is not the first time that she has hurt herself on set. A Warner Bros. spokesman confirms she broke her arm whilst making 'Gothika' in 2003, during a 'physical scene', and she is also believed to have been hit by a boom on the set of 2004's 'Catwoman'.
