Halle Berry researched her role as an emergency services operator for new movie The Call by listening to one of her own panicked 911 alerts following what she feared was a break-in at her home.
The actress spent time with the real-life cool operators who offer help and support to callers who believe their lives are under threat and they dug out her own emergency, so she could listen to all the things she did wrong.
The Monster's Ball star says, "About a year before I did this movie, I found myself having to call 911... Somebody was trying to break in to my property.
"The scary part of it for me was I thought he (intruder) was in my house and when I told the operator he's in my house, she then told me, 'Ok, be quiet, you've got to stop talking...' and the last thing I could do was stop talking... and she kept saying, 'Ma'am, stop talking...! Shut up!' At one point I had to put my hand over my mouth because my body was on, like, auto-nervous pilot and I could not stop talking.
"I got to hear my own 911 call... They save them."
