The celebrities, also including Jane Fonda, Jamie Lee Curtis and Emily Blunt, took to the stage at the annual Grants Banquet at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel to hand out donations to 67 non-profit organisations and scholarship programs which are related to the entertainment industry.

Nick Jonas kicked off the evening by performing a rendition of Louis Armstrong classic What a Wonderful World and Curtis, the first celebrity presenter of the night, thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the committee behind the Golden Globe Awards, for handing out a total of $2.1 million (£1.3 million) in grants.

She said, "I love them so much because we're going to give away f**king $2 million".

Gaga thanked HFPA President Lorenzo Soria on Instagram.com as her American Horror Story: Hotel character The Countess, writing, "Thank you HFPA and Lorenzo for having me present tonight, it's been so welcoming joining American Horror Story and it was fun to be in the room with such talented company... Love, The Countess."

Elizabeth Banks, Jon Hamm, Bryan Cranston, Ice Cube, Benicio del Toro and Dakota Johnson also attended the dinner.
