Halloween is less than 24 hours away, and along with all the witches, vampires and zombies that will be taking over the streets and parties, we reckon there'll be a few TV and film inspired looks out there. Here are eight franchises that we hope will be on every Halloween lover's mind - plus the most scary character of all.

Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise in 'It'Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise in 'It'

It - While dressing up as a killer clown on Halloween may get you into trouble with the cops after the influx of dangerous street pranks last year, we don't think everyone will be able to resist attempting their own incarnation of Bill Skarsgård's Pennywise from the new film adaptation of Stephen King's novel. After all, it is the most popular horror flick of the year.

Gal Gadot as Wonder WomanGal Gadot as Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman - This isn't an unusual costume choice, but since DC films reinvented the character with Gal Gadot, it's certainly sparked a lot of new interest. There's something a lot less cheesy and a lot more warrior-esque about the character's new look, though with the surge of strong female leads in cinema and TV, she's got some competition.

Sofia Boutella as Ahmanet in 'The Mummy'Sofia Boutella as Ahmanet in 'The Mummy'

The Mummy - It might not have been a huge critical or commercial success, but Halloween is all about the visual. Sofia Boutella as Ahmanet aka The Mummy in the new adaptation would make a stunning costume idea as well as appropriately terrifying. We'll be extremely disappointed if we don't see at least one Ahmanet this year.

A White Walker in 'Game of Thrones'A White Walker in 'Game of Thrones'

Game of Thrones - There are always plenty of GofT looks every Halloween; the girls don blonde wigs and tuck cuddly dragons under their arms as Daenerys, while the boys wear curly wigs with enormous fur coats as Jon Snow. However, a more impressive costume would be that of a White Walker - we just hope they don't come Trick-or-Treating on our doorstep.

Danai Gurira as Michonne in 'The Walking Dead'Danai Gurira as Michonne in 'The Walking Dead'

The Walking Dead - So zombies are nothing new in terms of costume, and it's the easiest one to create. But we think zombie killers are just as cool. Michonne - who is portrayed by Danai Gurira in 'The Walking Dead - would be our favourite choice, so grab those (plastic) swords, headbands and leather vests and go apocalypse-badass on all your friends.

Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in 'Stranger Things'Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in 'Stranger Things'

Stranger Things - Season one Eleven is still the most iconic incarnation of Millie Bobby Brown's character even now that season 2 is here. Perhaps those with short hair - or those brave enough to wear a very short wig - will consider throwing on an old babydoll dress and 80s denim jacket, and applying a little fake blood under the nose.

Jason Isaacs in 'Star Trek: Discovery'Jason Isaacs in 'Star Trek: Discovery'

Star Trek - Not that there is anything wrong with the classic Star Trek look, but with 'Star Trek: Discovery' now streaming, we'll be surprised if no-one opts for that silver-lined blue uniform. You can actually buy the costume online now, though it's not the cheapest outfit going.

Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha in 'Vikings'Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha in 'Vikings'

Vikings - Everyone's obsessed with vikings; whether it's the show or the ancient culture in general, and with a character like Lagertha who is portrayed by Katheryn Winnick it's not just for boys either.  In fact, she makes for an excellent feminist icon, not that we are short of them at the moment, and the hairstyle is as cool as can be.

Donald Trump - A parodical politician in a TV or film he is not, he is in fact the real life President of the United States. It's enough to strike fear into the hearts of the nation, so we're sure he'll be a hit this Halloween. Just don't forget the fake tan.
