Harrison Ford On The Mend But 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Delayed By Weeks

Harrison Ford Jj Abrams

Harrison Ford's broken leg could set back the production of Star Wars: Episode VII by up to two weeks, according to a new announcement made by Disney. The actor, who'll be reprising his role as Han Solo in the film, sustained the injury last month whilst filming for Jj Abrams' new sci-fi instalment.

The veteran movie star faces up to six weeks of rehabilitation to get him - quite literally - back on his feet after a piece of the movie set crushed his leg on the 12th June at England's Pinewood Studios.

Shooting has continued in Ford's absence with Star Wars bosses working around the missing character. Now shooting has had to be halted for two weeks by the studios although Episode VII is still "on track" to wrap in the fall and be released in December 2015, according to the AP.

No 'Star Wars Episode VII' News Means Kevin Smith Takes Centre Stage

Kevin Smith Star Wars Jj Abrams Harrison Ford

Star Wars Episode VII has done a pretty good job of churning out fairly newsworthy stuff since it was announced following Disney’s acquisition of LucasFilm and everything related to a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars

Yes, ‘this person is starring as this thing,’ or ‘this old guy broke his leg doing this, or even ‘this man is in charge of another thing do to with this thing’ – they all happened and they were just about newsworthy. But with nothing that important taking place, it looks like we’ll have to talk about Kevin Smith, who took a photo of his own face while being around all the Star Wars things going on.

The bash has already been compared to Tony Blair’s ‘Cool Britannia’, something Number 10 is keen to dissociate tonight’s bash from. Although with David Cameron likely set to offer up some form of toast, the similarities are there for all to see. Blair’s 1997 saw many cultural icons attend, like Oasis’s Noel Gallagher – only the stars turned on the government and were openly critical of its practises.

JJ Abrams Reacts To 'Star Wars VII' Millennium Falcon Leak...But Not How You’d Expect

Jj Abrams Carrie Fisher Mark Hamill Harrison Ford

With a movie as large and far-reaching as the new Star Wars, Episode VII, it was always going to be impossible to stop certain juicy details from leaking to the eager fanbase. Director Jj Abrams is notoriously secretive but even he has had to give in after a sneaky production team member shared several shots of the Millennium Falcon spaceship being built in some kind of hangar.

The director tweeted a photo of what appears to be the hologram chess board that appeared in the original Star Wars trilogy bearing a note that read "I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII. And making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie. - JJ."

Basically, Abrams is making fun of all the people speculating over whether the Falcon will be featured in the movie by saying 'yes fools, of course one of the most famous spaceships of all time is going to be in my movie.'

Millennium Falcon Photos From 'Star Wars 7' Set Leak: Could It Be?

We have been given our first look at the brand new Millennium Falcon that is being built for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, thanks to an alleged photo leak TMZ has published. The new shots, which are purported to feature full-size space vehicles from the sci-fi franchise, have strongly hinted that Han Solo's iconic spaceship and others will be included in Jj Abrams upcoming reboot.

If the photos are real, they are evidence that Abrams' team has decided to create full-size versions of the vehicles that George Lucas' movies only made in miniature model sizes. It will also indicate that Episode VII will use minimal CGI effects in favour of high spec props and spacecraft models. Eagle-eyed observers also spotted what looks like an X-Wing starfighter amongst the other unknown constructions.

The photos were evidently taken in some kind of cavernous hangar which fans are speculating could be England's Pinewood Studios, where much of the movie's filming will take place. Vast sets are shown being built out of wood and covered with ladders and scaffolding as Abrams' vision slowly takes form.

Fans of the Star Wars franchise have been most excited to find out who the “familiar faces” indicated in the press release would be. Since Disney paid over $4bn for the franchise in 2012 and announced they would release three new movies, there has been much speculation about the direction the movies would take. While Bob Iger didn’t discuss Star Wars Episode 7 casting for the new trilogy, he did confirm that cheeky droid R2D2 would be returning. Will R2’s old friends Luke, Leia, Han and C-3P0 be joining him?

Paranoia Review

OK

With a strong cast and striking production values, this thriller is sleek enough to hold our interest even if corporate espionage isn't a very exciting topic for the movies. As the title suggests, the film is trying to tap into the fear that our lives are being controlled by technology. But the script never goes anywhere with this idea, instead drifting through the usual plot involving shady bad guys, dark conspiracies and plucky heroics. All of which we've seen far too many times before.

It centres on young technical genius Adam (Hemsworth), who needs cash to pay the medical bills for his ill father (Dreyfuss). Working with his pal Kevin (Till), he goes for a big promotion but is instead sacked by his boss Wyatt (Oldman). The next morning, Wyatt makes Adam an offer he can't refuse: a chance to earn a fortune by spying on chief competitor Goddard (Ford). But this new undercover job brings all kinds of worries as Adam sees shadowy nastiness lurking around every corner. He's also suspicious that a recent one-night stand, Emma (Heard), works for Goddard. And that there's a strange man (Holloway) following his every move.

Rather than explore corrupt corporate culture or the idea that technology has eroded our privacy, the filmmakers create a fairly pedestrian thriller that tries to blind us with fake techno-speak and corny emotions. The plot continually hints that it will get darker and more momentous, but it never does. All of the stakes feel oddly small, the chain of events doesn't quite hang together and the characters never feel like more than rough outlines.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...Oh OK, not too long ago, on a catwalk in New York City.Rodarte fashion designer duo, Kate and Laura Mulleavy presented their new collection on Tuesday at New York Fashion, and the grand finale pieces were absolutely out of this world! The Mulleavy sisters founded their fashion line in 2005 and Rodarte has since gone from strength to strength, with celebrity clients including Cate Blanchett and Keira Knightley; however, their Fall 2014 collection is by far their most inventive and show-stopping collection yet.

Rodarte New York Fashion Week The Rodarte sisters were fans of the Star Wars franchise as children

Closing the show, crowds were taken aback to see five fabulous and floaty finale gowns. That’s not so unusual, right? Well, each of the five romantic and silky gowns were printed with images from George Lucas’ super franchise, Star Wars! The stunning gowns wouldn’t have looked out of place on a red carpet or at a stylish do, had each of them not been sporting an image from the iconic sci-fi film. Printed on the sweeping skirts were movie stills of Luke Skywalker, chatterbox C-3PO, Jedi master Yoda and lovable droid, R2-D2. Somehow, the images don’t detract at all from the elegance of the gowns and the colour palette seems perfectly picked in order to compliment the stills. Incidentally, the show came on the same day that casting was confirmed as complete on Star Wars Episode VII, with the intention to shoot in London's Pinewood studios from May till September.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Review

Good

It's been nearly 10 years since we first met Ron Burgundy, and this sequel is just as random and silly as expected. It's also more like a series of referential gags than an actual movie comedy, and as with the original film the best bits are knowing jabs at absurdities of the news media. This time we're in the 1980s, so there's plenty to make fun of here.

Over the past decade, Ron (Ferrell) has married Veronica (Applegate), and they've taken a joint anchor job in New York, where they live with their son (Nelson). But when Veronica lands a coveted network news job, Ron has a meltdown. Drunk and unemployed, he's approached to work on a new station: a 24-hour cable news channel. Even though he's sure this crazy idea will never catch on, Ron re-assembles his old team (swaggering reporter Rudd, dazed weatherman Carell and goofy sports guy Koechner) to beat handsome anchor Jack Lime (Marsden) in the ratings. And Ron's offbeat, populist approach changes the news forever.

This comical exploration of how TV news has shifted from hard reporting to shameless audience pandering gives the film a whiff of depth, which helps make the comical moments a lot funnier. The screenplay is a series of sketch-comedy episodes that don't quite hang together. For example, you could delete an extended sequence in which Ron goes blind, nurses a shark to health and sings a big musical number, and the movie wouldn't change at all. But all of these sequences have an absurd genius behind them that often gets us laughing, sometimes in disbelief.

The legend of San Diego's Channel 4 news team may have long since dissolved over the years, but anchors Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind are set to return as part of a brand new 24-hour news channel. In a bid to innovate newsreading and once again come out on top over Ron's wife and rival Veronica, they decide that they're going to give viewers the news they want to hear rather than what they need to. As usual, their antics involve the usual scandal and debauchery, putting their careers and tarnished reputations once again in the media's line of fire. No matter though, as these co-workers have each other's backs all the way.

'Thor: The Dark World' Dominates The Weekend Box Office With Impressive Opening Gross

Chris Hemsworth Tom Hiddleston Johnny Knoxville Michael Douglas Robert De Niro Harrison Ford

Thor: The Dark World almost became the top grossing November release of all time this weekend when it managed to bring in an estimated $86 million in the domestic market since its Friday (Nov 8) release in the USA. It narrowly missed out on beating the record set by Skyfall in 2012, but its numbers are nonetheless a fantastic result for studio bosses at Marvel and Disney.

Chris Hemsworth is back as the God of Thunder

Benefiting from the global blockbuster that was Marvel's The Avengers, much like Iron Man 3 did earlier this year, the estimated weekend takings of Thor 2 prove that there is still a great deal of life left in the superhero genre and despite lukewarm reviews, the film still has a keen and dedicated audience. The domestic performance from Thor 2 mirrors the similar successes enjoyed by the film in the international market, where it has already grossed $240.9 million. Thor was released a week earlier in a number of key international markets, including the United Kingdom and Australia, and has continued to perform well overseas.

Milius Review

Very Good

A biography of iconic filmmaker John Milius, this engaging documentary features some of the biggest stars of all time talking about their friend who changed the movies forever. And he's got such a huge presence that we love listening to his stories almost as much as we've loved watching his films over the decades. This movie also explores his controversial image as a right-wing gun lover, but the salient fact is that his friends and colleagues clearly love him dearly.

John Milius has always been a man's man. His asthma prevented him from joining the military, so he instead went to film school in the 1960s with a group that included Lucas, Spielberg, Coppola and Scorsese. And these young turks were exactly what cinema needed as the studio system ended. Milius' uncredited screenplay for Dirty Harry got him work as a writer and director, and his crowning achievement remains the screenplay for Apocalypse Now. He's also proud of his passion project Big Wednesday, an iconic surfing film that vanished without a trace when the studio abandoned it. But everything changed with Red Dawn, the teen fantasy that gave him his pro-gun reputation as a pariah. He's been less busy since, but is still working on his long-gestating epic about Genghis Khan, even though he has spent the past few years recovering from a debilitating stroke.

Like Milius himself, this is a beefy, jovial movie that zips along at a fast pace, observing telling details everywhere without any real criticism. Milius calls himself a "zen anarchist" rather than a conservative, and it's fascinating to see his life-loving personality emerge in the clips. Meanwhile, we see all of the iconic lines he's written and cinema-changing moments he's had a hand in, from writing Robert Shaw's amazing USS Indianapolis speech in Jaws to teaching Arnold Schwarzenegger how to hold a sword for Conan.

Is 'Ender's Game' The Box-Office Success Story Of 2013?

Harrison Ford Asa Butterfield

Remember when The Butler somehow raked in about $3 trillion at the box-office despite, well, not being very good? I think at the time we called it the box-office success story of the year, but it now has competition in the form of Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield's Ender's Game.

Harrison Ford Asa Butterfield Ender's GameHarrison Ford [Center] and Asa Butterfield [R] in Ender's Game

Firstly, we assumed this movie was going to be horrible. Most people did. The trailer wasn't overly convincing and, well, sci-fi flicks are often quite bad. Writer Orson Scott-Card's homophobic views left many apparently committed to boycotting the movie. But it wasn't horrible. For a family sci-fi flick, the reviews were extremely favourable and Ender's Game was hailed as one of the better space in recent years.  Our own Rich Cline said the movie actually adresses some "punchy subjects" in his review.

Orson Scott Card has announced that he plans to write more books in the Ender's Game series after the renewed interest in his work that the upcoming action movie adaptation has brought. Adapted by director Gavin Hood, the movie has debuted on top in the US, having raked in $28 million in its opening weekend. Set 70 years after the invasion of an alien race known as the Formics, the movie sees Asa Butterfield plays Ender Wiggin who is recruited by the International Fleet to join the Battle School in outer space due to his skill for logic and strategy. Ender is unaware of how much hope is being put on him to be Earth's hero and his ability to make the right choice in a difficult decision leaves him with a sense of bitter self-loathing.

'Ender's Game' Opens At Top Of US Box Office With $28 Million

Harrison Ford

The Sci-fi action film 'Ender's Game' tops the US box office on its opening weekend, raking in $28 million, according to Box Office Mojo. The adaptation of Orson Scott Card's sci-fi novel of the same name was released on Friday (Nov 1st), and while it received a mixed reception, it did not totally flop in US theatres. Although it is at no.1, the film needs to rapidly increase its domestic takings to justify its $110 million budget.

Ender's Game

'Ender's Game', directed by Gavin Hood, stars Asa Butterfield as a gifted boy, who is sent to military school in space to train for a future alien invasion, called 'Andrew 'Ender' Wiggin. The youngster stars alongside Hollywood legend, Harrison Ford, who plays the role of 'Colonel Graff', the leader of the military school who sees something in 'Ender', a hope to end all wars.

Uh Oh: 'Star Wars Episode VII' Might Go Ahead With Filming Despite Script Problems

Jj Abrams Harrison Ford

So desperate are Jj Abrams and Disney to meet their 2015 deadline for Star Wars Episode 7, they’re thinking about just filming some stuff without a script.

I know, it sounds like something a college film student kid would do, except these guys are responsible for one of the biggest franchises of all time.

Kathleen Kennedy, who is exec producing on the film, has been pushing for a delay, but the powers that be won’t budge, and insist that a summer 2015 release date is paramount. It can’t be missed, even if it means the film is rubbish - they haven’t said that, but they really don’t need to.

Ender's Game Review

Very Good

Since this entire story centres on virtual-reality gaming, it's tricky to feel any sense of what's at stake here. But a strong cast and above-average effects work help hold our interest until the requisite dramatic shift takes hold. Along the way, the movie explores some punchy issues such as the nature of true leadership and the morality of war.

It's set in a distant future: Earth has regrouped after an alien invasion, turning to children to harness their quick gaming reflexes and inner fearlessness. Ender (Butterfield) is a 12-year-old who's sure he'll crash out of training like his older sister Valentine (Breslin). But Colonel Graff (Ford) and Major Anderson (Davis) see something in him and send him on to battle school in an orbiting space station. As he shows true leadership potential and a sharp mind for warfare, he's promoted even further, training with iconic hero Rackham (Kingsley) on one of the aliens' former planets. And as he approaches his final exam, there's the sense that the fate of Earth hangs in the balance.

Yes, everything Ender does throughout his training is game related, either with digitally created environments or in a weightless battle globe with other cadets. This adds huge possibilities for the script to grapple with moral issues as Ender faces some staggering decisions. But since it's just a simulation, does it really mean anything? Thankfully, Butterfield is a terrific actor who lends the character a steely interior life that catches our interest. And being surrounded by the terrific Ford, Kingsley and Davis helps. As do some intriguing fellow recruits played by Steinfeld, Arias and others.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - International Trailer

The news used to be a noble profession before the likes of Ron Burgundy with his set of San Diego anchors Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland and Champ Kind took over. Now it's all about scandal, debauchery and vulgarity and Burgundy and his team are fighting hard to keep it that way. As per usual, they manage to get themselves in all kinds of trouble involving drugs in the studio, completely inappropriate news headlines, accidental racism (not to mention homophobia) and, of course, getting laid, and it's all in a bid to remain on top of the media as Ron fights his own battle to professionally tower over his wife and rival Veronica.

'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' is the even more hilarious sequel to 2004's 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy'. There's definitely more laughs to be had from everyone's favourite news readers as Judd Apatow ('The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall') returns to produce it. Director Adam McKay ('Step Brothers', 'The Other Guys', 'Talladega Nights') is also back alongside his co-writer and star Will Ferrell. It is set to feature in cinemas just in time for Christmas, premiering in theatres everywhere on December 20th 2013.

What Do We Know About 'Star Wars: Episode 7' So Far?

Star Wars George Lucas Jj Abrams Harrison Ford Mark Hamill Carrie Fisher Disney

Star Wars: Episode 7, is a phrase that either strike fear into the hearts of Star Wars fans the world over, or instil a sense of reluctant optimism in others. No matter how you feel about the rebooting of George Lucas' genre-defining sci-fi series, it is happening and there is nothing we can do about it. What we can do though is mull over every little rumor and tidbit that Disney have managed to let sneak on to the internet, and try to understand exactly where the movie's makers are in the filmmaking process.

George LucasJJ Abrams
Lucas is handing the baton over to Abrams

We do have some concrete facts about the movie so far; that Jj Abrams is directing it, or at least we're pretty sure that he still is anyway. During the summer there were rumors that the Lost creator was on the verge of stepping down from the project amidst creative differences with Disney. Having initially declined the invitation to direct the next instalment of the Star Wars franchise, his commitment to the project had always seemed somewhat in doubt, but as the months have gone by it does look as though he is committed to the job. Abrams is a pretty competent director and his involvement in the project is a promising one, providing that he doesn't go overboard with the lens flare like he did on Star Trek.

Excellent

What could easily have been a sentimental slog is given a spark of intelligent wit by writer-director Helgeland (A Knight's Tale). This is the story of an iconic figure from American sport who had a massive impact on society at large, and Helgeland focusses on the elements we can most readily identify with while quietly stressing how important and, yes, inspirational this story is.

In 1945 post-War America, most states still have segregation laws on the books, and black baseball players are sidelined in their own league. But Brooklyn Dodgers owner Branch Rickey (Ford) wants to break this barrier, and drafts Jackie Robinson (Boseman), making him the first black player in the Major League. Jackie is a determined, principled young man who struggles to hold his tongue in the face of blatant bigotry. But he gets help from Branch and team manager Leo (Meloni), and support from his equally feisty wife Rachel (Beharie). There's also a young black journalist (Holland) who works with him to further both their causes. But it takes Jackie a little longer to win over his teammates.

The film portrays endemic racism as the hideously ugly thing it is: socially accepted cruelty and prejudice. In truth, it was probably a lot worse than shown here, but we certainly don't miss the point. Especially since this kind of abusive language is never heard in today's politically correct climate. And Helgeland also creates complex characters who can't be tagged as heroes or villains, played with cheeky energy by a very strong cast. Boseman oozes charisma in the central role, undercutting what could be a too-saintly characterisation with sensitivity and steeliness. And Ford shines in a rare character role as a cantankerous old guy who simply won't take no for an answer.

In Defense Of Bruce Willis. Why $4 Million For 'The Expendables 3' Is A Bargain.

Bruce Willis Sylvester Stallone Harrison Ford

Action movie fans were collectively outraged on Thursday morning (August 9, 2013) when a source revealed to the Hollywood Reporter the real reason that Bruce Willis left The Expendables 3.

As we already knew, Bruce and Sly Stallone appeared to have a falling out, resulting in Harrison Ford replacing the Die Hard star in the forthcoming action-movie. Sly's tweets about being "greedy" hinted at a dispute over money, though we had no idea of the extent of Willis' demands.

Now, a source close to the project reveals how the actor was offered $3 million for four days work shooting in Bulgaria, though said he would drop out of the movie if he didn't get $4 million. "A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no," said the insider.

Bruce Willis Walks Out On 'Expendables 3' After Making Massive Payment Demands

Bruce Willis was set to become the latest action star to join forces with Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the rest in the upcoming Expendables 3. Unfortunately though, Willis won't be channelling his inner John McClane in the next Expendables film after all, as the Hollywood Reporter have revealed that due to contract disagreements, the actor has decided to walk away from the project.

Bruce demanded too much money from the Expendables team

On Tuesday (6 August), Stallone tweeted that Willis was out of the upcoming action project and Harrison Ford was in. He then went on to tweet, "GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE," to allude to his wage demands, but didn't follow-up his message with any kind of explanation as to why this happened. A day later, THR cleared up any confusion by confirming the reason behind Willis' axing, saying that it was his massive wage demands that made him surplus to requirements on the film. According to THR, Willis was offered $3 million to feature in the film, meaning he would have to take four days out of his busy schedule to film scenes on location in Bulgaria. It turns out that Willis wanted $1 million-per-day, threatening to walk away from the project if his demands weren't meant.

Harrison Ford is set to replace Bruce Willis in the all-star action franchise, The Expendables, as we move on to a third film, and Sylvester Stallonewho broke the story - seems mighty pleased with the news.

He Tweeted: “WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!” before posting: “GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE”. Now, we don’t think it takes a master of interpretation to ascertain that somewhere, somehow, Rocky and John McClain have fallen out somewhere down the line.

Ender's Game teaser trailer, released earlier this year, gave an indication of what can be expected from the film. The final trailer, however, features a dramatic narrative by Harrison Ford who promises the aliens "will be back". It's all very visually appealing in a Star Wars-Superman-Terminator way and with the melodramatic music, intense exchanges and wild landscapes: it certainly appears to be a film fans of science fiction will love.

Can We Look Forward To A Tangible Star Wars Episode VII?

Jj Abrams Harrison Ford George Lucas Star Wars

From the jerky horrors that made Jason’s life a misery, the flesh eating shark that terrorized the small island of Amity to the world’s biggest cruise liner falling victim to an iceberg, special effects and CGI have been married to film for as long as it has existed. The very act of filming something was once considered a special effect, as the audience of L'arrivée d'un train en gare de La Ciotat would almost certainly attest to.

George LucasEpisodes IV, V and VI - great. I, II and III - not so good

Nowadays, films Pacific Rim and Avatar lead the way with blue screen CGI techniques, designed to make the unreal, real. The tiger, Richard Parker, in Ang Lee’s Life of Pi was so believable, it won the special effects team an Oscar.

There is still an air of apprehension surrounding the planned re-boot of the Star Wars franchise - which is now owned by Disney - however a recent interview with the great John Williams has given fans something to be a little less cautious about, as he has signed on to score the soundtrack for the seventh instalment of the sci-fi movie series. In a video interview posted on to the official Star Wars YouTube page on Saturday (July 27), the composer pledged his commitment to the franchise for at least one more film, as he also detailed his own love of George Lucas' beloved sci-fi epic.

The Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan has also been announced as a returnee, taking on the role of creative consultant for the film, with Lucas himself said to be involved in the filming to ensure it adheres to his own vision of the galxay far, far away. Williams and his other returnees will be working on a script that is being penned by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3), with the film expected for a summer 2015 release.

Harrison Ford Responds To Orson Scott Card Homophobia Scandal With Indifference

Harrison Ford

There’s been a whole lot of controversy swirling around in the media around the homophobic views of Ender’s Game author Orson Scott Card. While Card has been open about his opinions in the past, it is only in recent months that his statements began to surface and gain traction online, the pickup obviously due to the pending release of the Ender’s Game movie. While some have called for a complete boycott of Card’s work and the Boycott Ender’s Game campaign is gaining traction online, the studio (Summit) is desperately trying to raise the project’s rep a bit. During a Thursday panel at Comic-Con, during which everyone involved reportedly acknowledged and distanced themselves from Card’s comments, and Card himself has declared the issue of gay marriage “moot” after last month’s Supreme Court ruling, Ford explained that he had no strong feelings about Card’s opinion either way, CNN reported today..

For Lionsgate, Orson Scott Card – the author, who wrote the novel on which Ender’s Game is based – is an unwanted presence as the moment due to his unpopular views on homosexuality and same-sex marriage. So much so, that his presence is non-existent.
