Production might be halted, but in the mean time, Star Wars Episode VII has just added two new cast members.
Newcomers Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke have become the latest additions to the Star Wars Episode VII cast, after beating out 67,000 other hopefuls. Overnight the actors have gone from being complete unknowns to the hottest new names in Hollywood. But what can we find out about Pip Andersen and Crystal Clarke?
Star Wars Episode VII is currently being filmed
Last year 67,000 hopefuls from 11 cities and across the internet responded to an open casting call for a part in Jj Abrams’ sequel. While some thought it was just a publicity stunt, the idea of casting unknowns is nothing new to the franchise. It’s actually something Star Wars prides itself on, remember back in 1977 Mark Hamil was an unknown name.

With the announcement of Andersen and Clarke’s casting, Lucasfilm president and producer of the film, Kathleen Kennedy, said, “The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition.” Adding that they were “delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film.”
Clarke is a young American actress who is currently studying acting in Glasgow, Scotland. She’s said to be a regular on the stage and will soon make her feature film debut in The Moon and the Sun. The movie, directed by Sean McNamara, is due out next year (before Episode VII) and will also star Pierce Brosnan, William Hurt and Kaya Scodelario.

Andersen, from Taunton, Somerset, appears to be the less experienced of the two. But aside from acting he also has another very impressive skill. He’s been a parkour/freerunning enthusiast for the past seven years and in 2012 he showcased his skills in a Sony advertisement where he mimicked Spider-Man.
Harrison Ford's ankle injury has halted production
Filming for Episode VII is continuing at London’s Pinewood Studios, but the movie will go on a two-week hiatus in August while Harrison Ford recovers from his ankle injury he suffered on set. But the good news is, the film is said to be still on track for its scheduled release date of December 18th 2015.
