Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling fired back at a homophobic fan this weekend (06-07Sep14) after criticising her decision to make the character Albus Dumbledore gay.
A Twitter.com user called Frank Fraticelli reached out to the British writer and explained he lost all love for the boy wizard franchise after discovering the sexuality of the popular Hogwarts school headmaster.
He wrote, "once u revealed Dumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan. Nice how u blindsided us with that one. Enjoy your billion $ (sic)."
The tweet caught Rowling's attention and she decided to calmly respond to Fraticelli, urging him to get in touch with Scottish businessman Brian Souter, who previously financed a campaign to uphold a school ban on the acceptance of homosexuality.
She replied, "I advise you to start following Brian Souter at once. He's much more your kind of person."
The author later expressed her gratitude to her more supportive fans following Fraticelli's controversial remark, tweeting, "I want to thank all the people tweeting me lovely messages. Don't worry about me - to paraphrase Albus Dumbledore ..."
Rowling famously revealed she "always thought of Dumble as gay" during an interview in 2007, when she was promoting the seventh an final instalment of her book series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
