Though his radio show was based in Texas, Ohio-born Kraddick grew up in Florida where he worked his way up to become a radio DJ, emcee-ing in comedy clubs to hone his quick wit and warm presenting style.
The catchy nickname "Kidd" came from a radio producer and stuck; a name he'd maintain throughout his career. Upon moving to Dallas in 1984, Kidd became presenter of a night shift on top-40 station KEGL, garnering the young host new fans. In 1998 he won the prestigious Marconi Award for Major Market Radio Personality of the Year for his work on KHKS-106.1 "Kiss-FM" Kidd Kraddick in the Morning - the host's early show - was nationally syndicated and broadcast to American Forces.
Very sad to hear about Kidd Kraddick. One of the absolute best. Grateful we got to visit his show a couple times and hang. Rest in peace.
