The author promises movement is being made on the 'GoT' spin-offs.
Set to conclude with its eighth season and, with its seventh season right around the corner, fans of HBO fantasy series 'Game of Thrones' - based on the uncompleted novel series 'A Song of Ice & Fire' by George R R Martin - can rest assured that they'll likely still be visiting the Seven Kingdoms and beyond, even when 'GoT' has left the small screen.
George R R Martin promises 'Game of Thrones' spin-offs are moving forward
For some time, the team at HBO who have been working on 'GoT' have been coming up with some ideas for a number of potential spin-off shows, working closely with author Martin to allow authenticity. Earlier this year, it was revealed that four different ideas were in development, with a number of high-profile writers involved such as Jane Goldman, Max Borenstein, Carly Wray and Brian Helgeland. Martin then revealed a fifth idea was also being floated around, but didn't reveal a writer attached.

The show will be seen by everybody at the same time.
Based on the best-selling but incomplete novel series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' by author George R R Martin, HBO fantasy series 'Game of Thrones' has entertained audiences for six full seasons now, with a seventh right around the corner. As the most-watched show in the TV network's history, you'd think they'd want to hang on to it for as long as possible. When season 8 eventually comes round however, it'll be the last in the series and consist of just six episodes, as opposed to the usual 10 or the next season's seven.
Could the White Walkers take over in season 7?
This weekend it's been revealed that the network will be following suit when it comes to the critics with what they did last year. They won't be releasing any episodes, check discs or the likes to journalists ahead of the seventh season's premiere, in a bid to tackle the leaking of episodes which happened with season 5 and prior. As television's most expensive show to make, leaks are a huge deal. They take away from overall viewership and make a big impact.

Myrcella Baratheon's death was originally going to be a lot more graphic.
There's no denying the immense popularity of HBO fantasy series 'Game of Thrones'. With six seasons aired to-date and a seventh right around the corner, the show - based on the incomplete 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novel series by George R. R. Martin - continues to surprise its viewership with shocking twists and turns.
Myrcella was mourned by her brother and father in 'Game of Thrones'
One of the curveballs the show likes to continue chucking at those watching is the death of fan favourite characters. Nobody's safe in the Seven Kingdoms, Westeros and beyond, as Nell Tiger Free discovered during season 5 when her character Myrcella Baratheon was poisoned and died on a ship back to King's Landing.

There may be loads of shows in production, but only one is expected to survive.
There's no denying just how popular HBO fantasy series 'Game of Thrones' has become across the six seasons to-date, and with a seventh season on the horizon made up of just seven episodes, the appetite for new information regarding the franchise is higher than ever before.
Could the White Walkers take over the Seven Kingdoms?
Whilst we now know that next year's eighth season will be the last for this particular series, there have been reports of a number of spinoffs being in production at HBO. This doesn't mean we'll be getting more than one when the time comes, however.

With ‘Game of Thrones’ fans eagerly awaiting the sixth season of their beloved HBO special, Kit Harington may have just provided a big clue about the fate of his character Jon Snow in a new interview. If you do not wish to know anything at all, please do not read further!
In the middle of one of his infrequent complaints about his obligations to ‘Game of Thrones’, the 28 year old star seems to have unwittingly revealed that he is signed up for one (or more) future appearances, in an interview with Belgian magazine Humo.

The director had been due to work on two projects for the network this summer, but both are reported to be tangled up in budgetary or scripting wrangles.
David Fincher’s relationship with HBO is on the ropes this summer, with news that both of his projects with the network are in trouble of some description. His ‘80s music video comedy was abruptly halted back in June, and now his re-make of ‘Utopia’ looks to be in financial difficulties.
Fincher, who was an executive producer on ‘House of Cards’ for Netflix, had been set to work on both projects in tandem a few months ago, but now the cable network HBO is trying to figure out how to move forward with his dramatic adaptation of ‘Utopia’ as well as salvaging ‘Video Synchronicity’, which has been out of production for nearly two months.

Fear not, 'Game of Thrones' fans - season five is coming. But before then, we have a little featurette to whet our appetites.
It's a fair to say that pretty much everyone is familiar with 'Game of Thrones' at this point. It's had years of dominating the Emmy Awards ceremonies and has fired both the characters, stars and original author into being household names. So it stands to reason that faced with a nine-month wait between seasons, people are desperate to get back to Westeros as soon as possible. Luckily, a featurette is on its way to keep us going.

According to 'Game of Thrones' fansite, Winteriscoming.net, HBO has scheduled 'Game of Thrones: A Day In The Life' to be released on 8th February, appearing on both HBO's website and YouTube channel. But before people have a chance to see it, a little speculation is in order. Last year, preceding the fourth series, HBO released 'Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing' - half an hour of part recap, part teaser. It seems likely that something similar is inbound.

HBO could change the whole television landscape with a new streaming service.
Ever keen to get involved in forward-thinking, innovative television, HBO has announced it will launch a streaming video service in 2015 that will not require users to have a cable or satellite subscription. Essentially, it will give Netflix customers - who pay for relatively expensive subscriptions - food for thought. HBO's move could change the whole cable television landscape.
Game of Thrones has been a huge hit for HBO
"This is an enormous breakthrough; consumers will be able to get to pick what they want and they will finally have content companies selling directly to them," said Gene Kimmelman, president public interest group Public Knowledge. "The question is, 'Who is next'? That's trickier because this speaks to the power of HBO's brand to be able to break from the cable bundle."

Obviously, viewers have started to consume television shows increasingly through non-cable subscription services such as YouTube and Netflix for some time, and it’s been something that the traditional networks have known about for some years now. Until now, households have retained their expensive subscriptions despite this trend because of access to live sports and for HBO’s huge range of successful shows like ‘Game of Thrones’.
