Helen Mirren, the 66-year-old British actress, has fended off stiff competition to win the LA Fitness award for 'Body of the Year'. The Oscar-winner gained a total of 17.65% of the vote, putting her well ahead of nearest rival Elle Macpherson, who secured just 10%, reports Sky News.
Dame Helen also saw off British model Kelly Brook, who came third, and big-favourite Jennifer Lopez who could only manage fourth place. LA Fitness marketing director Tony Orme said of the result, "It's great to see the public celebrating bodies of all shapes and sizes, and proving that you really can look fabulous over 40 and 50". The survey, which polled over 2000 people, also included Pippa Middleton, actress Kate Winslet and Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger, who finished in tenth place. In the men's 'Best Body' list, it was unsurprisingly Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham who finished top of the pile, closely followed by current Bond actor Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp. Tennis ace Rafael Nadal finished seventh with 3.3% of the vote, while Simon Cowell sneaked into the top ten with 1.95%.
Helen Mirren is currently filming the untitled Phil Spector biopic, starring Al Pacino as the famed music producer. The actress plays Spector's defence attorney Linda Kenney Baden.
