As a national treasure, we’re used to the idea that Helen Mirren can do pretty much everything. Not just within the world of acting, either; we reckon she could comfortably run the country or throw grapes in her mouth seamlessly.

So we were shocked to find out that there’s something she can’t do: voiceovers. Although, she’s the one who said she’s “hopeless” so we’ll bet she’s probablu better than most. “It’s a learning process and they do it so brilliantly,” she said of John Goodman and Billy Crystal as she watched them act out their parts for Monsters University, which she is set to star in, vocally, that is. Mirren plays a scary headmaster, something she has some experience in, as she remembers being terrified of hers. “She gave me the best advice – the worst thing about fear is fear itself. She was scary but ultimately wise,” she explains. “It’s very annoying to go though life watching people who never seem to be challenged, and who just get everything they want without having to work for it,” she adds, saying that the film’s premise is based on that idea.

“The rest of us who do have to struggle and fight get knocked back, and we have to come forward again, because most of us have to fight. There are a privileged few who just seem to waft through life without meeting any adversity or difficulty."
