'Man of Steel' actor Henry Cavill is reportedly in negotiations to star in Guy Ritchie's 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.' after Tom Cruise dropped out of the project.
Henry Cavill is in talks to star in 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.'
The 'Man of Steel' actor is reportedly in negotiations to replace Tom Cruise in Guy Ritchie's big screen adaptation of the TV series after the 50-year-old actor dropped out to focus on 'Mission: Impossible 5', Deadline reports.
If successful, Cavill will play spy Napoleon Solo alongside Armie Hammer as Soviet agent Illya Kuryakin - played by Robert Vaughan and David McCallum in the 1960s TV show - who both work for the United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.).
Up-and-coming Swedish actress Alicia Vikander recently joined the cast as a British agent with an interest in fast cars - a part written especially for the feature which is being produced by Warner Bros.' Lionel Wigram and John Davis.
Cavill can next be seen as Superman in Zack Snyder's new reboot of the superhero franchise and the British star admitted he feels a great deal of ''responsibility'' to do justice to the highly anticipated role.
He previously said: ''It's important to do the role justice. There are a lot of people relying on me to do this well.
''I gladly accept that responsibility, and it's a great one to have because it's a wonderful opportunity. I don't let the pressures get to me because that's going to hinder my performance and, therefore, let people down.
''So I choose to ignore the pressure side of it and focus on doing justice to Superman.''
