Hilary Duff believes being a new mother is ''no joke''.

The 24-year-old actress and her husband MIKE COMRIE welcomed their first child, son Luca Cruz, on March 20, and Hilary admits it's been hard work.

She tweeted: ''4am ... Sleepy eyed. Feeding baby ... whew this job is no joke!'' before adding: ''Luca fed! Mamma fed! Time to do it all again in 2 hours! Oh how life has changed! Lol In such a wonderful way :)''

But the former 'Lizzie McGuire' star has been getting plenty on help from friends and family, including her big sister Haylie, 27.

She said: ''Haylie came over to make yummy kale salad and truffle devil eggs for din! I think it's more about her getting time with Luca but I'll take it! (sic)''

Hilary previously revealed she wants to take time out to enjoy her little one before returning to her music career.

She told US Weekly: ''I think that after I have the baby I'll want to sit still for a few months and learn how to be a really good mom.

''And then there's no reason why I can't put a record out and tour ... It might take a little while but I'm really excited about it.''
