Hollywood superstar Russell Crowe has hit back at radio presenter Howard Stern after the latter gentleman reportedly criticised the Gladiator actor over his weight. It seems Crowe was alerted to comments made over his physique by a fan and decided he wanted to respond.

Quentin Tarantino has blasted Disney studios for what he has labelled “extortionist practices” in their refusal to allow one of the cinemas they’ve booked for Star Wars screenings in Los Angeles to be relinquished for a day to show his new movie The Hateful Eight.

Appearing on the Howard Stern show on SiriusXFM, Tarantino says that he and his distributors The Weinstein Company had previously come to a verbal agreement with Disney to allow the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood to be free to show a 70mm version of The Hateful Eight, which opens on December 25th in the States, for a two week run.

Sofia Vergara has opened up about the embryo lawsuit with her ex-fiancé, businessman Nick Loeb. Although the suit was filed last year, the news only came to light last month. The 42-year-old Modern Family star has remained silent about the suit since the news broke but she has spoken out whilst appearing on Howard Stern's SiriusXM show on Monday (4th May).

Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin Split: Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin announced this week that they were splitting up. Well, instead they described their split as a "conscious uncoupling," a phrase that drew scorn and mockery from the internet. The pair had reportedly been testing their separation for a year and finally decided to go public. In an entry on the Iron Man star's website, the couple explained that being parents to their two children was the priority for them right now.

L'Wren Scott's Will: The last will and testament of the late fashion designer L'Wren Scott has been made public. The former model was found hanged in her Manhattan apartment on Monday 17th March whilst her boyfriend, Mick Jagger, was on tour with the Rolling Stones. Jagger is the only named beneficiary in L'Wren's will, with her adoptive siblings explicitly denied any of her $9 million estate. Joan Rivers has slammed Lena Dunham for being overweight in a new interview on The Howard Stern Show. The 80 year-old television personality heavily criticised the Girls writer and actress' stance on body image, namely that she doesn't feel the need to conform to the more Hollywood ideals of female body shape. Comedian Rivers is known for her tendency for incendiary comments but in her radio interview with Stern she drove home her distaste for Dunham's image despite the host's attempt to defend the 27 year-old star.

"Let me ask you something. Lena Dunham, who again I think is terrific, how could she wear dresses above the knee?" Rivers asked on Tuesday. "I think the thing we love about her is that she doesn't give a s**t," Stern replied, referring to Dunham's body positive philosophy. "Oh, every woman gives a s**t," Rivers retorted, adding "That's wrong. You are sending a message out saying 'It's okay. Stay fat. Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.'" Stern argued back: "I don't think she's sending a message to anyone other than 'I want to make you laugh.'"

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee might sound like the name of a not-very-exciting viral video, but it is in fact Jerry Seinfeld’s own talk show. It is coincidentally a web series, which does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s an hour of Seinfeld and a fellow comedian riding around, drinking coffee and being (hopefully) very entertaining. The format was inspired by an episode of his infamous 90s sitcom. In the episode in question, Jerry’s pal George decided success might await him if he lived his failed life in the opposite manner.

Seinfeld wanted to put a new spin on the classic talk show format.

“That,” recalls Seinfeld in a recent interview, “gave me the idea to create a talk show that was the opposite of the typical show. “With a typical talk show,” he explains via the Sun Times, “you have to go to a studio. You have to tell them in advance what you’re going to talk about. You have to dress up. You have to put on makeup. It’s very, very organized.

America's Got Talent came to an end for the eighth time last night (18 September) and between a magician, a comic, a collection of singers and a Japanese performance artist, one of the final six was crowned this year's AGT winner. It was a surprise filled night as the final performers slowly dwindled away, between performances from the guest entertainers on the night, as America decided who they would press the red buzzer on and who would be going to Las Vegas with $1 million to spend.

This Saturday, Jimmy Kimmel married his longtime partner and the co-head writer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Molly McNearney. According to Us Weekly, both the 45-year-old host and his ladylove, 35, chose very classic looks for their special day – he in a black and white tux and she in a flowing white strapless gown with a diamond-encrusted sash.

The couple have been together for several years.

The diamonds weren’t the only sparkling thing at the star-studded wedding, however. The reception was attended by a slew of A-listers, including Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner, Matt Damon and wife Luciana, Jennifer Aniston and fiance Justin Theroux, Ellen Degeneres and wife Portia De Rossi, Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski, Howard Stern and Johnny Knoxville were all on the guestlist of some 300 of Kimmel and McNearney’s closest friends and family.

Lena Dunham called into The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM on Wednesday (January 16, 2013) to clear the air after a week of light-hearted jibes between the pair. In fact, it started with a rather mean spirited remark from Stern, who referred to the Girls star as "a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill, and she keeps taking her clothes off, and it kind of feels like rape."

Dunham's HBO comedy-drama has been hailed for portraying the lives of real twentysomethings in New York, though shock-jock Stern was initially put-off by the whole thing. In his conversation with Dunham, the DJ apologized for his remarks and said he had changed his opinion after watching more episodes of Girls, saying, "I did say those things [but] I guess I just wanna tell you that I love you and I think you're terrific." Citing her earlier interview with David Letterman - in which she stood up for Stern despite his comments - Dunham said, "I was excited [about Stern's comments] and extolling the virtues of your particular brand of free speech.I'm not that fat, Howard.I'm not super thin, but I'm thin, for like, Detroit." Perhaps in attempt to make the writer and actress feel better, Stern said, "You're not obese or anything."

Season two of Girls continues on HBO this Sunday (January 20, 2013) while UK fans need only wait for an extra 24 hours, with the show continuing on Sky Atlantic on Monday.

Lena Dunham and Howard Stern have officially buried the hatchet, as Dunham accepted the shock jock’s apology and pointed out to him “I’m not that fat.” If you’re going to insult someone publicly, it may as well be a comedian, right Howard? We can only assume that’s what Stern was thinking when he decided to slate Dunham and her show, Girls (which, coincidentally, just landed her a couple of Golden Globes last weekend) after watching a couple of episodes and branding her “a little fat chick.”

His comments were met with a fair bit of consternation from Dunham’s army of fans though and Stern eventually backtracked, having watched a bit more of the show and deciding that, in actual fact, he was starting to ‘get’ the show and its creator, Dunham. Yesterday (January 16, 2013), New York Daily News reports, Lena called into Howard Stern’s radio show and said that she accepted his apology, though she made sure that she added “I’m not that fat, Howard. I’m not super-thin but I’m thin for, like Detroit.”

In fact, Stern has not only apologised but he seems to have become a real Lena Dunham enthusiast. “I’m on love with you and your character,” he told her. “I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I think you’re terrific.” Dunham accepted the apology with grace, saying “I appreciate your effort to rectify (this)...Whether you'd done that or not, I'd have remained a (Howard Stern) enthusiast.”

If you’re going to be a shock-jock at least have the cojones to stand by your shock remarks eh!? That’s probably not the line to take here, but it does appear that Howard Stern is softening in his advanced years as he apologized for comments made about Girls star Lena Dunham.

The DJ had seemingly slammed Dunham on his show last week, saying "I learned that this little fat chick writes the show and directs the show and that makes sense to me because she's such a camera hog that the other characters barely are on.” That seems pretty damning to us, right? So too does: "Good for her. It's hard for little fat chicks to get anything going."

However, this was apparently all a terrible mistake, with US Magazine reporting that Stern offered up this bizarre apology that doesn’t seem to correlate with the very clear nature of the comments he’d previously made. "I felt bad because I really do love the show Girls, and enjoy it, and I admire the girl who writes it," he said on-air this week. "It makes me feel bad, and I think she is getting the impression that I somehow think she's just a talentless little fat chick." Well, errr, isn’t that pretty much what you said Howard? Dunham’s ridden with the jibes well, and so she should, the actress is set for great things having won two Golden Globe awards at the weekend for her work on her hit HBO program.

The Silver Linings Playbook premiere was a predictably star-studded affair in New York on Monday evening (November 12, 2012), though its star Jennifer Lawrence was conspicuous by her absence. With the Oscar-tipped female lead nowhere to be seen, it was down to co-star Julia Stiles to take all the attention on the red carpet. Styles – best known for her role in 10 Things I Hate About You – rocked a short black dress.

The spirit of New Yorkers was in full force last night on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night chat show. Despite having to cancel Monday night’s filming, owing to Hurricane Sandy’s devastating arrival in the city, Kimmel managed to snag himself an audience for Tuesday night’s filming.

Kimmel kicked off the show with a thank you to those who made it out “I was born in Bay Ridge. I grew up in Mill Basin. Tonight, I have returned to save my people from the storm… Thank you for ignoring the local authorities to be here tonight for our first show...Mayor Bloomberg will be here shortly to have you arrested.” It wasn’t just the audience that had ventured across town for the special filming, either. Guests Howard Stern and Tracy Morgan both made it to the studio, though Stern was something of a reluctant attendee, telling the audience “I was begging Jimmy to cancel the show! I'm driving along and I'm trying to get here, and I thought, 'Why am I really trying to be here tonight?'

Jimmy Fallon was also grateful to get a live audience in their seats for his own late night filming. He told last night’s participants “I'm so glad you're here because last night's audience was the worst," Fallon said. "Last night we had to do the show in front of a bunch of empty seats—or as Clint Eastwood calls that, a full house." Sandy may have wreaked destruction across New York – and, of course, beyond – but the entertainment industry is a bullish one and won’t be brought to a halt for very long, as the kings of late night chat shows have proven.
