Are the Crawley’s about to transfer to the big screen? Well it could happen, one day, as in a interview with Britain's Daily Mirror actress Raquel Cassidy revealed that a 'Downton Abbey' movie is “definitely a possibility”.
Can you imagine the Dowager Countess on the big screen?
"There have been talks and there is definitely a possibility of a Downton film,” the actress who plays housemaid Phyllis Baxter told the newspaper. “There is real hope. It’s been mentioned more than once and there’s a lot of commercial and artistic interest. Stranger things have happened, so watch this space,” Cassidy added.

Thanks to Downton’s huge success on both sides of the Atlantic, a big screen version of the series has been rumoured for years. However the show’s creator Julian Fellowes, who won an Academy Award in 2001 for the Gosford Park screenplay, had previously said he wanted the show’s television run to have finished before a film could take place. The series will enter into its sixth season late next year.
Last week, Downton fans got a special early Christmas treat when George Clooney paid the Grantham estate a visit as part of ITV’s Text Santa charity appeal. Joanna Lumley and Jeremy Piven also made appearances in the episode which spoofed It’s A Wonderful Life.
Of course on Christmas day fans will also be settling down to watch the show’s annual Christmas Special, which this year promises to be “very heartwarming,” according to star Hugh Bonneville.
