Hugh Jackman would love to play James Bond after turning down the role 10 years ago.
Hugh Jackman would ''seriously consider'' playing James Bond.
The 46-year-old actor admitted he was approached about taking on the role of the suave super-spy 10 years ago before Daniel Craig got the part and if the opportunity came up again, he would be interested.
Hugh told Australian TV show 'The Project': ''I sort of have [been asked]. At the time I was just about to do 'X-Men 2' and I was like, #Ah, I don't think it's the right time'. But it was not an easy one to give up.''
And when asked if he would take on the role when Daniel retires, he said: ''I'd seriously consider it.''
Meanwhile, Daniel, 47, - who is about to return to the big screen for the new Bond movie 'Spectre' - recently slammed his alter-ego as a lonely, ''sexist and misogynistic'' man.
He said: ''Hopefully my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic as (earlier incarnations). The world has changed.
''I am certainly not that person. But he is ... There's a great sadness. He's got these beautiful women but then they leave. It's sad. And as a man gets older it's not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy, that's debatable, but the reality, after a couple of months...''
The star revealed he's set to pack away his revolver and hang up his dinner suit because he wants to get on with life after James Bond.
When asked if he's staying with the franchise, he told Esquire magazine: ''At this moment, no. I have a life and I've got to get on with it a bit. But we'll see.
''You know, it sounds awful but I've been left a wealthy man by doing this. I can afford to live very comfortably... I'm incredibly fortunate. But the day I can walk into a pub and someone goes, 'Oh, there's Daniel Craig' and then just leaves me alone, that'll be great.''
